Gambia Justice Minister Supports Death Penalty
Thursday, 11 November 2010 16:30
The drug has a street value of $1billion, far more than the annual budget of the Gambia. It will tantamount to an abdication of responsibility if we don't do anything," he said while delivering the opening statement of the 48th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and People's Rights, which is being held in Banjul from 10-14 November, 2010.
Using capital punishment for drug dealers seems to be, in his view, the best way to eradicate drug trafficking in The Gambia and keep communities safe. "We should use draconian laws against criminals who are putting the life of the cream of the society (the young ones) at risk.
We have the duty to protect our society!"
In fact, President Yahya Jammeh has recently declared a zero tolerance policy against drug trafficking and other
related activities because of the fact that "drugs destroy the very future of an entire nation on the benefit of a few greedy, evil and inhumane creatures." As the Latin American drug Cartels are deploying efforts to extend their tentacles to the Western African sub-region, the use of death penalty to contain its expansion continues to raise concerns among the human rights activists.

Guys none must take this shameless hypocrite seriously. He will support/advocate for EVERYTHING yaya stands for; including the abusive prostitution of his own daughter-Zara Gomez only to be dump for another related friend-Alimah Sallah. This explains what type the man is & how low he’s prepared to stoop to yaya, his silly-idol.
If the death penalty is applicable to drug dealers, so should it be to those who killed our citizens and got indemnified by the state. On this anniversary of NOVEMBER 11TH we also remember those young military officers who were made to kneel down in Nyambai Forest and were shot behind their backs in cold blood by this criminal regime in Banjul.
Mr.Gomez, do see how empty you rhetoric is? Do you see how very little trust Gambians have in you and the system you represent? The State of Gambia has been doing just fine without the need for bloodshed until this bloodthirsty maniac turned our world upside down.
The state of Gambia has been killing people in secret anyway, but now you and your fellow collaborators are pushing to give Jammeh the LEGAL mandate to put more people to death! To say that you and your type really sickens me is truly an understatement.
