Continue to Rest in Peace Ambassador Femi Peters. The Nation in remembering your great contribution to our country.

I pray for God’s grace to abound in uplifting the spirits of your loved ones and I pray that The Gambia will remember you with a deep realization that our collective hope should not be allowed to die.

A warrior of light is never predictable. He might dance down the street on his way to work, gaze into the eyes of a stranger and speak of love. Or else defend an apparently absurd idea.

He is not afraid to feel joy at new discoveries. When he realizes that he can do no more, he abandons the fight, but never blames himself for having committed a few unexpected acts of folly.

A warrior does not spend his days trying to play the role that others have chosen for him”. (Paulo Coelho).

The “Warrior of Light Ambassador Peters”, thanks so much for gifting Olufemi to The Independent.

Ambassador Peters, you gave everything to the Gambia to the extent, offered your son to the Independent to become a journalist to join the fight against tyranny despite the hostility the private press faced.

Ambassador Peters, the final journey: this day, this month and this year. “For everything, there is a season and, a time for every purpose under the heavens” (Ecclesiastics 31:8).

A time: to go. The compass and ever diligent greenskeeper, you leave behind to family, friends, party supporters and relatives, your evergreen garden, teaming with brevity, humility, simplicity, honesty; integrity. It’s time to go, Ambassador Peters; the final journey.

Go, run and dance with the Angels. Tell them to take care of you. And us.  The Gambia remember you, Ambassador Peters.

Gambians are challenged by your sincere desire to see a better Gambia. The Gambia have been robbed of a simple great man but the seeds of trust you planted have found thrust in the ground. Sooner than later, the seeds will bud in the midst of ululations and grand hallelujahs.
