Venezuela Donates $22m For Gambia's Power Grid
Tuesday, 06 September 2011 00:41
(Eluniversal) - The Venezuelan government donated USD 22 million to Gambia, intended to finance the revamping
of its power grid and improve its energy supply service, said Monday Lang Sabally, the project leader. The funding of the rural electrification project should make possible "the revamping, overhaul, and extension of the power grid in the capital Banjul and its surroundings," Sabally told a press conference.
The donation will also allow Gambian authorities to install streetlights in some sectors of the capital, AFP reported.

Only God knows when this government will stop humiliating itself and the country.
But lets hope that its just a misunderstandin g or misquotation.
Who is telling the truth now?
We should be able invest in our own development.... if all the taxes paid by Gambians are properly managed. We have a president who will seize our own taxes and use it for his personal projects.
We are a "Developed Nation" the day we let the administration know that we are in control and we want to invest in our selves. We will remain beggers as long as we have these kinds of people governing our country. Thanks.
No strings attached (I hope ),No interest payments. Just a genuine helping hand to a 'Friend in need'.
Thank you brother Chavez and the Venezuelan people. And my Venuzuelan friend,Simon,in Brighton,UK.
Hope part of it is not diverted to sponsor the APRC campaign. Only time will tell.$22m should go to very long way to improve the eletrics situation in the country. If things don't within the next few months or years,we know what's happened.
Government is investing a lot on Kotu Power plant. Build sub stations in different towns to reduce capacity and improve efficiency! Just a common sense.
Africa development is long over due.
