United Nations Reappoints Gambian as Chief Prosecutor

(PANA) - The United Nations Security Council has reappointed former Gambian judge Hassan Bubacar as its Chief Prosecutor
for Rwanda’s International Criminal Tribunal. According to sources in Dakar, Jallow’s reappointment followed a UN resolution adopted unanimously at its recent meeting held on 14 September.The reappointment, which runs up to 31 December, 2014 will be his third term as Prosecutor of the Tribunal.
He was first appointed to the post in 2003, and then reappointed in 2007 by the UN Security Council.
Prior to his UN job, Mr. Jallow served as a High court judge in the Gambia.
He was former Justice Minister under the deposed President Sir Dawda Jawara.
