Uncertainty Hangs Over Gambia's NGOs Week
Thursday, 09 December 2010 13:32
By Abdoulie JohnOusman Yabo, Director of The Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (TANGO) in The Gambia has expressed displeasure over the slow pace taken by NGOs to register to the organization's biggest plan of organizing the most awaited NGOs Week.
He made this revelation during the recent launch of Action Aid Human Rights handbook that took place at TANGO's premises, located in Fajara.

The NGOs Week aims at providing an opportunity to the country's NGOs to not only showcase their activities to the general public, but also to other development stakeholders.
However, it seems effort to ensure a successful occasion is not being heeded to by the NGOs as if they prefer opacity triumphing over transparency.
For some analysts, such an attitude denotes a flagrant ambiguity in the way some of the NGOs are being managed.
"They need to be audited," voiced out a prominent member of the Gambian civil society.
Speaking under condition of anonymity, this critic said he was still wondering why NGOs were dragging their feet to respond to TANGO's call which, in his view, was only "geared towards creating better relationships between NGOs community and the corporate sector."
