UDP salutes all Gambians both at home and abroad

By Bamba mass (UDP/UK)As we see 2010 depart, let all Gambians reflect on event of previous years so as to make important decision this New Year 2011. Many did not heed UDP's advice that together we can get Jammeh out of office through the ballot box. Many of our brothers/sisters in Uniform thought they are on the same side with Jammeh but he has shown them he cares only about himself and no soldier or
Police and that has been manifested in 2010 just like previous years. The sentencing to death of CDS Lang Tombong Tamba/co shows Jammeh sees only himself and no body else. While the rest of Gambians York under the clutches of Yahya Jammeh's undemocratic maneuvers to crown himself a king he will never be. I have asked President Jammeh to disassociate himself with those fools because even if he was behind the idea, it is so unworkable that any attempt to monarchicalise our democratic nation would be calling for total disunity. How comes today some thin headed Gambians would even contemplate thinki!ng of crowning Jammeh king of the Gambia? Don't they have children or are they so blinded with greed that they no longer wish themselves good so that their sons/ daughters could one day seek presidential office? President Yahya Jammeh has no royal lineage much more even if all his ancestors were royal kings of Africa before colonization, Gambians have gone a long way up the democratic ladder to go so low down again. Who ever is madly thinking of selling our nationality Let that stick to their thin heads that they would fail and in the end Jammeh would betray them first. Because as Jammeh calls himself a true lover of the Gambia, he would never compromise the independence of the citizens of the Gambia by forcing them to bow to him as their king. I belief he is more human to put himself in the place a Lord.
All the same the United Democratic Party Leader, Veteran Lawyer and Human Right icon Ousainou. N. Darboe who has so much foresight for our nation and circrifised so much for Gambians, yet still willing to go further for the sake of his country, salutes all of you including supporters of Yahya Jammeh. All Gambians need to reflect and rethink about what we want for our country as we enter this New Year 2011. Let 2011 be a year of total joy for all Gambians who love the home country. Let it be a year where every Gambian can be protected by our noble constitution. Let it be a year where all are equal before the law regardless of their political, social of ethnic affiliation Let it be a year where all Gambians and lovers of Gambia who yearn to see the motherland but can't because of Yahya Jammeh and his undemocratic government.
NOW COME 2011 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS,
1. Gambians must choose between freedom and colonization with force labor.
2. Gambians must choose between living in fear, mistrust and freedom of choice, lawful assembly, freedom of religion and even freedom of choice of party acceptable by our laws even if that differs with a government policy.
3. Gambian must choose give deaf ears to smear campaigns against fellow country men/women who choose to circrifised their safety and wellbeing of themselves and their families in other to safe us all.
4. All Gambians serving Jammeh must look behind their shoulders and reflect that yes they are in high office today but tomorrow they could be where Ensa Badgie, Bun Sanneh Lang Tombong, Sarjo Fofana are now because they were yesterday where you are today.
5. Those who associate themselves as close relatives of Jammeh are living in a fool's paradise because Yahya Jammeh has no blood brother or sister. His brother is his only son Muhammad Jammeh and sister is his only daughter Mimi Jammeh with his mother Aja Assombi Bojang. These are Yahya Jammeh's relatives and any other are relatives his presidency.
The UDP Leader Ousainou has refused for the past 16 or more years of Jammeh rule to associate his name with anything that would hijack the democratic rights of his fellow citizens. In fact he gave and continues to give his services freely to any who fell out with the government at the courts even those who once publicly condemned him. Darboe could have been any other greedy so called intellectual who saw only their personal greed above national interest. We all knew some of our so called Intellectuals have out of selfish greed served and continue to aid the Jammeh regime in their crime against the citizens of our dear motherland and when they get the expected sack, some of their supporters/praise singers would try covering their shameful exit by saying it is good to serve Jammeh because one gets a good CV out of it and can land you a good Job abroad. Well how about try building one's own country like abroad where you would be at home with your people?
Alhagie Ousainou Darboe's vision for his motherland can never be buried under the carpet by his so called distracters and that is why he bored to circrifised suffers of insults, arrests and intimidations of himself and his family for the sake of the ONE GAMBIA ONE PEOPLE slogan!
We all know our democratic institutions have all been hijacked and none today functions independently without Yaya Jammeh's OK stamp.
In the legislature, we have witnesses our member of parliament arrested; allegedly tortured thus most of them serve not their constituents but their master Yahya Jammeh. Thus most bills pressed before parliament despite designed to further suppress our people get passed without much opposition from members of our legislative assembly.
In the Judiciary things are even worst. We have today in the Gambia foreign machinery judges and prosecutors sentencing our people day in and day out without any regards to our laws. They would sentence you once the master wants you sent to jail. Veteran leader Mr. Femi Peters UDP's campaign manager was a case example and people like our dear Fatou Jaw Manneh with countless citizens just to name a few. Jammeh used to and still boast to us that he would send so and so to mile2 (He calls Baba Jobe's Hotel) and it doesn't matter your innocence any Gambia today can go to Jail when and how Yahya Jammeh chooses it. Our Judiciary is non functional. Hierarchical position of judges no longer applies. The closer one is to the president the more your fellow judges fear and slavishly listen to you. No case would be judged according to the laws of our land so long as Jammeh has an interest in your case and wants you the accused or defendant sent down to mile 2.
EVERY GAMBIAN TODAY IS GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT AND NOT THE OTHERWAY ROUND.
But I belief Gambians are becoming wiser and days are gone when people can fabricate lies against their fellow countrymen/women just because they want their names smeared for someone's political gain.
We remember when the likes of evil Sana Biro Sabally trying to put all the blame squarely on Jammeh's shoulder when they are all comrades in crime.
We remember as well some years ago when the likes of Gebel Ceesay a former PPP stalwart calls himself diehard UDP supporter because he among others were sent to US to rally support for their benefactors to gain cheap political popularity. The truth came out that the said Gebel Ceesay had never supported Ousainou Darboe but OJ leader of PPP who formed an Alliance with UDP. Well I continue to wonder why people lie so openly against someone who had nothing against them but good will.
On the topic of forming an Alliance, well UDP welcomes all on board as they have always reiterated. We invite all other oppositions to join us in the struggle to free all Gambian come this 2011 election. We all knew the truth that all coalitions across the globe e.g. Israel, United Kingdom, Italy, just to name a few in Europe and in Africa, Liberia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry and recently Ivory Coast, leading oppositions merge with smaller ones for the sake of national pride and unity with which they were able to remove ruling parties out of power.
Why should the Gambia be any different from any civilized country?
Sponsorers and campaigners of a possible coalition in the Gambia for the common good of all Gambians should realize that some other smaller oppositions dragging their feet is a ploy to make it totally impossible for any coalition because their demands does not tally with the Gambian voters wishes and collective cooperation based of truth and fairness should precede individual greed. The Gambia is above all and no group should think today that they can use cyber space to fool Gambians because that country has produced sons/daughter more matured, educated and politically aware.
Ask any poor farmer in the far provinces or the kombos what they think about oppositions forming a coalition in other to remove Jammeh from power. Should a major opposition party lead the rest or should they go for a primary to choose a flag bearer and listen to what they would tell you. Those people back home may be poor but they have their national pride, integrity and above all their intelligence to be fooled. They know what they want and no one can fool them not to talk of us on writing stuff on the web. Most of them don't even have the time and resources reading the web so it is better for Gambian writers to communicate with the electorates back home in other to convince them into voting Jammeh out come these 2011 elections.
The ruling party has so much capital and resources at its disposal to buy people's integrity and Gambians must never forget what happened few years with the late Veteran opposition leader Sheriff M Dibba who at one time was Gambia's first Vice Presidents and who sold his honor to Jammeh and got the results in full. We all knew who financed his presidential campaign just in other to slice the UDP and after having his wish, selected him speaker of our national assembly with one of his supporters Majanko Samusa nominated into parliament. Political marriages with Jammeh never take long. Sheriff Dibba who could have been respected just like any other founding fathers of our nation's democratic struggles like Late P.S. Njie, Rev. J.C. Faye and onetime Vice Presidents Hassan Musa Camara who respects themselves and preserved their national pride above individual interest so much that they would be respected for ever in the history of our motherland. Late Hon. Dibba seceded out!
of envy against a one time supporters of himself and chose to sell his honor to a man he vowed on BBC focus on Africa in July 1994 he would never support or work with. But history has shown us what happens afterwards. Soldiers do have one slogan which I remember well "dismiss and disgrace" and we have heard on countless number of times from Jammeh himself that if he fires you from his government, even a laborers job you would not be able to have in the Gambia and he is right because he uses you until many people envies you and sacks you disgracefully when no one pities you anymore.
There are many examples to give and am sure Gambians cannot forget what is at stake if we should allow another five years of Jammeh.
The choice is ours to make for if we choose to listen to so called lecturers who thought all Gambians are political illiterate and therefore they can used cyber web to bring confusion amongst us thereby retain Jammeh and his AFPRC on every Gambian neck then that would be a price our foolishness would lead us to pay.
Jollof News had it that Yahya Jammeh had his mother married former president Alhagie Sir Dawda .K. Jawara. Well if that surprised most Gambians it doesn't surprise me. Our dear mother Aja Assombi was said to have married to the Imam Ratib of Banjul Alhagie cherno Kah and what ever must have transpired, that marriage never materialized for I don't belief in Radio Kan kang. But now what a union of adversaries? Jammeh is on record accusing Jawara of rampant corruption and mismanagement of Gambia's public coffers with his government saying that was their main reason of overthrowing his regime. We may never know the motive behind such a move for Jammeh's change of heart from Imam Kah to sir Dawda's marrying his mother must have something beneath it. But all the same UDP welcomes any union of Gambians who ever they might be. May they live happily together!|
Long live supporters of democracy, long live the people of the Gambia.
