Suspected British fraudster believed to be hiding in Gambia

MelkshamBy Yusupha Cham
A UK businessman who disappeared after his business went bankrupt is believed to be hiding in Gambia.
Andy Priddle, 47, reportedly left Melksham, a small town in the county of Wiltshire in South West England, unannounced. His divorced wife, Mandy Davies Jones, remains confused over the fate of their five-year-old son, Freddie, who the father reportedly absconded with.Melksham
The paper quoted Young Freddie’s mother as saying: “I don’t know where Freddie is, but I think he might be in the Gambia. The weekend before they disappeared I had Freddie and I just happened to touch his arm and he said ‘Ow mummy, that’s where I had my injections’. I found out from the doctors that he had injections before going to the Gambia. I know they flew out on August 23, but I don’t know if they’ve come back or not. He (Mr Priddle) does have contacts in the Gambia.
“I wake up in the middle of the night in a panic, it’s awful. They haven’t told me anything about where they are.”
According to reports, Freddie was supposed to commence school in Year 1, two weeks ago, but hasn’t turned up yet.
Andy Priddle was the director of HPS on the Intercity Trading Estate, which closed down during a half-price sale leaving customers thousands of pounds out of pocket, reports Wiltshere Times, Sunday. He has not been seen for nearly a month, the report adds, and police have reportedly launched an investigation into a suspected fraud.
DC Nick Mackian of Wiltshire Police said: “Inquiries are continuing. We’ve had a number of further victims come forward, we now have over 12. At the moment Mr Priddle is still outstanding but inquiries are in hand to locate him.”
