Senegal's President Wade to Deploy Pit Bull Dogs Against Protesters
Thursday, 18 August 2011 01:37
(JollofNews) – Senegalese protesters will have to get prepared to face the worst possible encounters with
government operatives as President Abdoulaye Wade deploys pit bull dogs to contain any civil unrest. The country's security forces have already received a good number of these dogs that are typically aggressive and have a reputation of mauling people to death.
According to the Senegalese news site Seneweb, these pit bulls dogs are currently undergoing training at Samba Diéry Diallo Barracks located in the heart of Dakar. All indicators are that they are ready to go after any group of people taking to the streets. The online newspaper also added that the timing of this move is dictated by President Wade's commitment not to allow a remake of Senegal's June 23 events as he warned he will never be surprised by his political adversaries.
“On 23 June this year, we were surprised by people’s reactions because we wanted to do things in good faith. Now that we have learnt our lesson, we will face any attempt to destabilize our country. I have given instructions to the security forces to ensure that the rule of law prevails” he indicated.
Citing reliable sources, Seneweb went further to disclose that President Abdoulaye Wade is confident that his candidacy will not be ruled out by the Constitutional Court, and will spare no efforts to prevent any public fury from experiencing the scenario of June 23 events, which have been described as the worst-ever riots.
As such, the Senegalese leader is set to get a third term by all means.
