Senegalese soldier dies in Casamance clashes

The incident occurred at about 4pm, according to local media reports, after rebels attacked a taxi traveling on a highway. Passengers were reportedly stripped off all their possessions by the rebels.
Informed about the situation, the Senegalese army raided the village to restore order. And a battle ensued, resulting in the injury of the Senegalese soldier who later succumbed to his wounds at the regional hospital in Ziguinchor.
