Senegalese sets himself alight in front of presidential palace
Friday, 18 February 2011 15:44
JollofNews - A Senegalese man has set himself on fire in front of the presidential palace in Dakar, Friday morning.
Bocoum, as the man is only known for now, is an aggrieved former Senegalese soldier, and according to reports, he urged the authorities to address the plight of
former soldiers before setting fire on his shirt soaked with gasoline. His burns were said to be so severe that witnesses at the scene feared for his life.He was soon evacuated to hospital by firefighters, who tried to save him.
This mode of expression of grief has become popular especially in the Middle East, since Tunisia’s recent revolution.
Like in Tunisia, aggrieved persons are hardly in shortage in Senegal, where chronic power outages are adding to an already heated political atmosphere caused by the president’s intention, to seek a third term.

It is not too much but I think is bcoz of our leaders lack of paying more attention to the condition of their citizens, I think the person who served his country for year as a soldier deserve to get what he need from the state, bcoz, he was one day sacrificing his life for the country while most of us were sleeping on our beds at night!
