Senegal wants to reduce foreign flights into Dakar
Friday, 08 April 2011 10:45
JollofNews - Senegal is embarking on a controversial reform in its air transport industry.
Air Transport Minister, Karim Wade, is working on plans geared towards his expressed ambition of making the newly established Senegal Airlines the leading airline in the country. But the plan will also mean a massive job loss for Senegalese.

According to Seneweb, Mr Wade is trying to renegotiate agreements signed by the Senegalese government and foreign airlines operating in the country. Sn Brussels, which has been involved in a related conflict with the Senegalese government, will have its flights decreased from 7 to 3 per week, according to the new agreement. Other airlines to be affected by the change include Air Portugal, Royal Air Morocco, and South African Airways, all of which will in most cases reduce their number of flights per week to more than half.
Reports indicate that Senegal’s aviation workers union is already threatening to challenge the decision. They accused Karim Wade of negligence, saying he took this decision to protect the airline while ignoring hundreds of jobs created by the affected companies.

If he is not scheming on exploiting travelers though exorbitant prices, let him run those airlines out of business by providing competitive fares.
Using laws and regulations to create exploitative monopolies is an unfair business practice.
AND there is nothing "pan-African" about his clear fouls on the rules of commerce because a significant portion of his profits will end up in European banks.
FYI, the "new" Air Senegal is not owned by the Senegalese people, it belongs to Karim and his cronies. Hopefully, the EU would retaliate... and show Karim that air travel ain't a one way street.

We rather prefer that to go back to the colonial mentality of your ancestors such as: Prime Minister: Winston Churchill or the then President Theodore Roosevelt or Joseph Stalin of Russia.
You see, your true and real Blood is now circulating in your xenophobic system for people to see what I used to tell them here when some of them looking upon you as a blessing without knowing that you are the GOI-TRE of our Necks these days, Should I compare you here with former President Pieter Willem Botha of Southern Africa (The Mosquito)?
Please give us a Break, we don't need your stinky service in our mids.

Three cheers for the Wazungu.
President Wade should join forces with Virgin Atlantic...They are selling trips to space at £125,000 for 5 minutes of weightlessness....advance bookings stand at £400 million pounds.
We only hope that Young Wade will also creat New vaccancies for those this decision going to affect !
