Seized Laptop Exposes Licence Scam
Monday, 06 June 2011 00:10
(Jollofnews) - A Gambian ASP who has reportedly found himself on the wrong side of the law has been released on bail while the police lengthen their
investigations into driver’s licence scam that rocks the Gambia police department. The police have made giant strides in unveiling the mystery surrounding this criminal network. “Our men have laid hands on a laptop computer containing details
of the driving licence and insurance scam,” a source told JollofNews. ASP Lamin King Colley, also an executive member of the Gambia Football Association, was allowed to reunite with his family after he had tendered three of his own title deeds to investigators, impeccable sources confirmed.
Mr. Colley was arrested with a good number of accomplices in a string of operations, in which the police uncovered disturbing fakery in the issuance of the Gambia’s biometric licence to unqualified drivers.
The unfolding drama was a complete departure from the police department’s earlier assurance to the public that “nobody will any longer be issued driver’s licence without going through the proper procedures.”
