Wednesday, 01 September 2010 23:58
By Abdoulie JohnSubscribers to Gambia’s newest GSM service, QCell, will henceforth be able to loan credit at any given time. The newly unveiled product, dubbed E-Fankanta, was announced at a press conference held at the company’s Headquarters along Kairaba Avenue in Serekunda.

This, according to QCell’s management, is part of its plans to bring to The Gambia state of the art value added services to its customers.
QCell Sunu Buss has become more or less a household name in the country, with its customer base exponentially increasing since its establishment.
Muhammed Jah, Chief Executive Officer, Qcell Sunu Buss, while launching the new product on Wednesday, September 01, 2010, told media personnel present that anytime a record was broken, especially a record which would positively affect the lives of people, it would be worthwhile to recognize and celebrate such an event.
“This is good, because it will set a new challenge for the rest to try to break the record and that is what brings about development,” he said. “It creates for the young and growing and increases the quality of life for our people.”
QCell’s newly unveiled product follows its recently inaugurated futuristic 3G mobile service that has already given the opportunity to Gambians to invent their own modernity.
“The idea of bringing to the Gambia the highest and the best in telecommunications technology is our goal. Nothing short of the best would do. We are aiming to place ourselves as Industry Standards in The Gambia and as such, our goals and challenges are very high,” QCell’s boss reiterated amidst rousing applause.
Truly in his element, the QCell CEO made a strong promise that this unprecedented credit advance service will offer the company’s mobile services subscribers the possibility to loan credit from QCell anywhere and at any time of the day and night.
“If the customer has a balance of D2.00 or lower, they can use this service by sending *118# and their account would instantly be credited with a maximum credit advance of D10.00,” he explained.
But he was quick to emphasize that a service fee of D1.00 applies, and went on to outline the conditions attached to this service as follows.
A subscriber must have been on QCell for at least 4 months; subscribers are required to pay back on their next recharge, and can request for the service on a daily basis as long as previous balance will have been settled.
In an exchange with journalists, the QCell boss seized the opportunity to highlight his company’s commitment to continue offering smooth and satisfactory access to its subscribers coupled with excellent services to the users across the length and breath of the country.
This new product also comes after the company consecutively introduced into the market a number of other customer friendly services such as QCell Sunu Buss Instant Roaming Sim card and the QCell Muslim Phone.

Joe this is seriuos, can you not be objective enough to realize that the E-Fankanta is not a political jibe to win elections but a marketing strategy for business. Do you not recognize the difference between a business and a political institution. Give credit to QCell for being innovative here. This has got nothing at all to do with the president.

This is the environment that has turned off many Gambians from starting businesses in the country. Why can't our parliament simply force this clown to stay out of business and leave it to the real businessmen?
I think in this Ramadan period people are more interested in seeing the authorities address the the high prices of basic commodities, not in seeing Jammeh's front men parading on tv telling people what latest wonderful technological junk they have come up with.
