Online journalist held incommunicado, violently assaulted

Thierno Souleymane Diallo, a reporter of www.Tamtamguinée .Com, was in the morning of November 6, 2010 violently assaulted and detained by members of the red berets deployed at the presidency for photographing their brutalities of a taxi driver in Conakry, the capital.Journalist_jailed
The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) s correspondent reported that Souleymane is being held without charge since he was arrested and sent to the notorious Makombo camp, the headquarters of the presidential security outfit.
His colleagues and family do not also have access to him.
The correspondent said soldiers rained blows on Souleymane and  threw  him  into a military  truck after  he took pictures  of the soldiers  manhandling a taxi  driver  at downtown Conakry near road block  at the entrance of the administrative  hub.
MFWA condemns this incident and call on the authorities to intervene to ensure the immediate and unconditional release of Souleymane.

Le 6 novembre 2010, au matin, Thierno Souleymane, un reporter de www.Tamtamguinée.Com, a été violemment agressé et détenu par des bérets rouges de la présidence pour avoir photographié les brutalités qu’ils infligeaient à un chauffeur de taxi à Conakry, la capitale.
Le correspondant de la Fondation pour les Médias en Afrique de l’Ouest (MFWA) a rapporté que depuis son arrestation, Souleymane demeure en détention au camp Makombo, le siège de la sécurité présidentielle, où il a été conduit sans qu’aucune inculpation ne soit  portée contre lui.
Ses collègues et sa famille n’ont également aucun contact avec lui.
Le correspondant a affirmé que les militaires l’ont roué des coups et l’ont jeté dans un camion militaire après qu’il a photographié les soldats qui étaient en train de malmener un chauffeur de taxi au centre ville de Conakry, au niveau d’un barrage de contrôle situé près de l’entrée du quartier administratif.
La MFWA dénonce cet incident et fait appel aux autorités pour qu’elles interviennent en vue d’assurer la libération immédiate et sans conditions de Souleymane.
