Observer Sports Editor Nanama Keita in Police Custody
Monday, 04 July 2011 16:36
(JollofNews) - Embattled Daily Observer Sports Editor Nanama Keita is the latest guest of Gambian police.
It can be recalled that Mr. Keita recently spilled the beans by providing full account of what transpired between him and the Observer’s Director Pa Malick Faye.
In the bitter exchange of words, Pa Malick Faye warned Nanama that should he (Keita) not refrain from passing on implicating information linking Pa Malick to alleged corruption and fraudulent dealings he (Keita) risks becoming another Chief Ebrima Manneh, high profile disappeared and untraceable Gambian journalist.
According to details emerging from Gambian capital Banjul, Nanama Keita is set for a fast track court proceeding.
He will be charged to court for the crime of giving false information to public officers, an offence the Jammeh government banks on to control information flow. Most people in Gambia resort to gossips in their closed corners for fears that the next person may turn out to be an informer.
Gambia is a typical police state where the general public remains under perpetual state of fear.

As I stated before writing that letter was going to put him in more troubles as it has just happened.

Just like Pa Malick “said” to him, Nanama WILL be another Chief Manneh but for their different ways of persecutions. At least Nanama will not be physically murdered in cold blood directly like Manneh; he will be tried in some kangaroo courts where all know/foresee what the outcome can already be; & then slowly murdered with some sort of "battery powder" in captivity?
