Nkrumahists condemn President Jammeh's misrule
Thursday, 02 September 2010 20:58
By Yusupha ChamThe once powerful and most committed Pan Africanist political group, The Convention People's Party (CPP) of the late Kwame Nkrumah, has added its force to the growing condemnation against the maladministration of the Jammeh regime in Gambia.
According to GhanaWeb, the CPP on Thursday condemned the government of the Gambia for gross human rights abuses against its citizens and nationals of other countries.

Citing the 2010 United Nations Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) assessment of the human rights situation in the Gambia, the CPP reminded ECOWAS that condition in The Gambia posed a security threat to the region, reported GhanaWeb.
A statement signed by Dr Adolf Lutterodt, the CPP Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, said the UPR report cited the Gambia's failure to cooperate with the Human Rights Council and various bodies in meeting reporting requirements. Others issues include allegations of unwillingness to engage with UN special procedures, particularly the Special Rapporteur on Torture, violations of freedom of the press and freedom of expression and allegations of arbitrary arrest, detention, disappearances and killings of journalists, security prisoners, human rights defenders and other political prisoners. The rest of the human rights abuses were the prevalence of violence against women, trafficking, sexual exploitation and female genital mutilation, and the lack of specific legislation to address these issues.
Dr Lutterodt also called on Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration to advice on its missions abroad to look out for, register and protect Ghanaians in the Gambia. The CPP appealed to the government to collaborate with other international bodies including the United Nations, African Union, and ECOWAS to put pressure on the Gambian government to respect the rule of law and stop all forms of human rights abuses.
This is the latest episode in the on going denouncing of Jammeh's regime, and by extension, battering of Gambia's image. Indeed many commentators have indicated that Gambia has now replaced Niger as the eye sore on Ecowas' efforts to sanitize the region from misrule.

The ironic thing is that Jammeh also considers himself a Pan Africanist. Hopefully this is a kick in sorry ass that its not only Western nations who have taken note of his backwards ways. The Pan true Pan Africanist have spoken and Jammeh better run!!!
Now, can you defend how focusing on Pa Ndery's wife is relevant to the problems in Gambia?
Here we reffer to Yahya Jammeh as the problem because he made himself Gambian by usurping every attention. If Pa Ndery is hated today it is because of his uncompromising stance against the same Yhaya Jammeh.
How many people/Gambians steals from some department stores in a day? what will such a report benefit what the poor Gambian back home is concerned about? Trust me if Pa Ndery is caught stealing that would be a news indeed, but not his wife.
If failure to report that means to you Jammeh would stay for 30yrs, let's wait for your prophecy...
will be by getting rid of pres jammeh. How about we all be real and truthful to each other....oh!you all think pres jammeh is the problem. No we are the problem because no one wants the truth here, and it is a sorry state therefore ,believe it or not pres jammeh will be there for aonther 30 yrs.Pa nderry and all journalist are exempted from been criticise because they are for the opposition opperessed.....so sad.
Africa stands at the threshold of great economic progress but is being held back by corrupt and incompetent regimes that are determined to cling onto power at all costs.
From Zimbabwe to Burkinafaso, thi s virulent form of leadership still persists and a country like Guinea Country only became lucky with the death of Lasana Conté.This should have been Africa's century because never in our history have we had more Africans living in the west who have gained enough capital to enable them to invest in Africa. This ability and eagerness to invest in their own countries is exemplified by Ghana today. With a free press and multi-party democracy, this example can be duplicated all over Africa.Tyranny clearly belongs in the past as we aim for progress.
I think you should thoroughly get this straight!!! Even if what you saying is true, I and every sensible and concerned Gambians/Africans knows the abuse of Gambians and our government coffer is far more important/dangerous and serious situation than jollofnews or pa nderry or walmart.
I think every Gambian is more concerned with reasons, by the irratic and grove abusive reaction of Yahya Jammeh and knows it can happen to them too in this country. As you know,be it pro or anti Jammeh, shares these concerns.
You should be grateful that, there are few unsilenced Gambians, who have sacrifice everything to make the world knows about these grove abuses on Gambians rights. I think you will only know if your turn comes or your love ones.
I hope you will be well and alive to be grateful then!! If you think you are immune, go to bed and think hard!!!!!
Your present onslaught against Pa Ndery suggests an obsession for vengeance, one that is not sought out of neccessity for truth but for pure grudge. It is very clear that you are only out to discredit Pa whom, by the way, I only know as a journalist as I havenever met him.
The fact is that, like some one said somewhere here, Pa means a lot today to the struggle for the liberation of Gambia from the hands of the tyrant.
Between you and God, Sosseh and all those who buys your idea of attacking Pa, what would focusing on Pa's wife benefit our present course?
For God's sake, it is Yaya Jammeh that is holding up Gambia, not Pa Ndery, not Pa Pierre, not me, not SOsseh Saine, not Mr Cham here... If we do not focus on Yaya who do we focus on?
If Jammeh doesn't want to be scrutinised, he should leave! Plain and simple! Who said he will be penalised for that, anyway? That is wat we want today.
I am not a joker
I love our great leader Yahya Jammeh and I am sure you dont understand when a women is deeply in love with a man and her reactions to rivals
