Nigerian appointed president of Gambia's Appeal Court

PANA - Gambian leader, Yahya Jammeh, has appointed Justice Joseph U. Wowo president
of The Gambia Court of Appeal, judicial sources confirmed to PANA here Friday. The appointment was pursuant to Section 138 (3) of the 1997 Second Republic Constitution of the country and the Nigerian-born Wowo's appointment took effect from 2 November, 2010.Wowo was once at the Civil Litigation Department at the Attorney General's Chambers and he also served as a high court judge before he was elevated to the Court of Appeal as a judge.
He replaces Justice Esther Ota, who is going on secondment to Swaziland in Southern Africa.
