Gambia’s Local Government Election Date Announced

IEC BOSS(JollofNews) – The electoral commission of the Gambia has announced the date for the country’s local government elections.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) said it will conduct the elections for the Mayors of Banjul and Kanifing Municipal Council and councillors for the 114 wards in the country on April 4

Nominations of candidates will take place at the commission’s regional offices across the country on March 14 to 16.IEC BOSS

Meanwhile it is not clear whether opposition parties in the country will contest the elections.

The opposition parties boycotted the last parliamentary elections following concerns at the lack of a level playing field in the country’s electoral process.

Another futile exercise, not worth contesting to validated & consolidate yaya’s tyrannical enslavement; as long as the IEC who’s so-called-independence seen them totally dependent on yaya’s dictatorial tendencies, breathing yaya jammeh-aprc through, & through, hence act as tool/instrument to perpetuate our communal decadence including their very selves. Yaya jammeh openly ILLEGALLY register Cassamance nationals at the so-called elections, MONOPOLISES the State own media, funds & facilities, etc, meant to equally serve both incumbent & opposition; constant abuse, harassment & intimidations of the supporters & leaderships of the Oppositions.......... The Opposition too MUST devise ways & put their house in order to gain realistic momentum to finish the task.
