Belgium To Deport 586 'Fake' Senegalese Asylum Seekers

Asylum seekers(Africareview) – Belgian authorities have announced they will deport 586 “fake” Senegalese asylum seekers, most of them youths whose asylum requests have been rejected.

The youths are said to have been manipulated by unscrupulous conmen who are making windfall profits from the illegal transactions.

About 534 of the asylum seekers entered the country in 2012 while 52 others were registered in January this year alone, sources said.

The director of Belgium’s office for immigration, Mr Freddy Rosemont, explained that the questionable asylum seekers claimed they were fleeing discrimination and persecution due to their "cultural background."
Asylum seekersWest African migrants intending to head to Europe rest at the Canary Islands.
Essentially they were insinuating that they were from the southern Casamance region where the majority ethnic Joola people are fighting a secessionist war against Senegal.

In a bid to stave off the rush of asylum seekers, Mr Rosemont told a press conference in Belgium on Tuesday that his department was introducing stricter regulations including shortening the process of examining applications.

That will mean shortening the temporary resident status granted to applicants such that those rejected will almost immediately face deportation.

In the past when such applications got rejected, the candidates would continue living in the country clandestinely as their numbers swelled, the Belgian official explained.

He said his country was open to immigrants but insisted legal residence could only be obtained through valid arrangements.

Belgium’s ambassador to Senegal, Mr Johan Verkammen, promised to work with the host government in resolving the asylum problem.

We heard rumours (unconfirmed) that he invited President Ouatarra to our Independence Celebrations recently,so won't comment..But if true, wonder if he was invited as the illegitimate President of Ivory Coast...

But we know that he flew to Abidjan or wherever,to attend an ECOWAS Summit, chaired by President Alassan Ouatarra...Amazing...Really amazing...No journalist dared ask him whether he has done a U-turn and now recognise President Ouatarra as the LEGITIMATE PRESIDENT OF THE IVORY COAST...

Sorry, I'm off topic but has to point out these contradictions, to show that what Jammeh does is different from what he preaches..

I am so passionate about immigration and the plight of fellow himan beings, who are branded as illegal immigrants, that i dont trust myself to comment on the issue...But bringing Jammeh into this discussion has definitely spiced it up a bit..Atleast,for me..

Didn't you hear (reported in the pages of the Point) that Jammeh is begging France to keep it's troups in Mali..? Yaya Jammeh, who rants against the West for this or that evil...! Isn't France supposed to be part of the Western Establishment that impose puppet governments in Africa,so as to steal our resources, accor ding to Jammeh...? What makes him think that France will change it's agenda, this time around..? Answer me pls, you Pro-Jammeh Western bashers...!

Or have you forgotten,so soon, the statement read by Dr Njogu Bah on GRTS,that they will NEVER recognise Alassan Ouatarra as the legitimate President of Ivory Coast..

Jammeh has sent would be (Youth) migrants to Mile 2 for nothing, but trying to migrate to Europe, through the back door...He has also rediculed hard working migrants by calling them names, such washrrs and degrading names...So please, spare us your Jammeh praising in this discussion...

Otherwise,your contribution is good..

Fake asylum seekers or not,no human has the moral right to declare another human,an ILLIGAL IMMIGRANT (human being) on the face of this earth...Unless they are Alien creatures from outer space...

Planet earth is our home and we should be FREE to roam it,as we please, without being encumbered by this or that law, that specifically applies to certain groups of people...

Every human being,in any location or settlement, shou ld be subjected to the same laws as the resident communities, wit hout any discrimination..

If you think you own the piece of land you are squatting on,you wait until the angel of death visits you...Then will be made clear to you that the only thing you own are your deeds, and may be,your casket..

If I was a president,I will not accept any deportees, unles s they volunteered and are adequately compensated for the humiliation..After all, poverty, whi ch is the biggest motivating factor for migration,is their making..

LionKing,The Senegalese authorities shouldn't allow this asylum seekers. Because, they might face hardship due to the fact that they run away from their villages to avoid the conflic or being selected forcefully to fight as rebels. Now,their lifes will be in "DANGER" if they return home to face thesame hardship situation. Belguim, should accept these peoples who faces "DANGER".

"Belgium’s ambassador to Senegal, Mr Johan Verkammen, promised to work with the host government in resolving the asylum problem".
What about the Senegalese Ambassador to Belgium? What did he or she say or do about the situation? Are they being treated like descent human beings? Are they being fed, sheltered and given medical treatments? The Senegalese Ambassador needs to make sure that all these things are happening, other wise,Macky Sall should recall him immediately. Yahya Jammeh will never let his people humiliated in front of the world cameras like this.

Fake Asylum is not good. We need to do the right thing no what! Many people are self-exiled Asylees and not government. However, lets pray for their safety and that of their families. Africa loves you and your families will welcome you with open arms. Good luck!
