Muammar Gaddafi Killed In Libya

Gaddafis_body(BBC) - Libya's ex-leader Col Muammar Gaddafi has been killed after an assault on his home town of Sirte, the transitional authority's acting prime minister says.
Mahmoud Jibril told a news conference in Tripoli it was time to launch a new, united Libya.
Video footage has been broadcast around the world showing a battered body claimed to be that of Col Gaddafi.
He was toppled in August after 42 years in power. The International Criminal Court has been seeking his arrest.Gaddafis_body

After a day of conflicting reports and rumours, Mr Jibril told the news conference: "We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Muammar Gaddafi has been killed.
"I think it's for the Libyans to realise that it's time to start a new Libya, a united Libya, one people, one future."
Grainy video footage had earlier been circulating among NTC fighters appearing to show Col Gaddafi's corpse.
The video shows a large number of NTC fighters yelling in chaotic scenes around a khaki-clad body, which has blood oozing from the face and neck.
Another video broadcast by al-Jazeera TV showed a body being dragged through the streets which the channel said was that of Col Gaddafi.
Nato, which has been running a bombing campaign in Libya for months, said it had carried out an air strike earlier on Thursday that hit two pro-Gaddafi vehicles near Sirte.
It was unclear whether the strikes were connected with Col Gaddafi's death.
Earlier, NTC official Abdel Hafez Ghoga told AFP: "We announce to the world that Gaddafi has been killed at the hands of the revolution.
"It is an historic moment. It is the end of tyranny and dictatorship. Gaddafi has met his fate."
An NTC fighter told the BBC he found Col Gaddafi hiding in a hole in Sirte, and the former leader begged him not to shoot.
The fighter showed reporters a golden pistol he said he had taken from Col Gaddafi.
Arabic TV channels showed images of troops surrounding two large drainage pipes where the reporters said Col Gaddafi was found.
NTC supporters gathered in towns and cities to celebrate the reports of the colonel's death.
Groups of young men fired guns in the air, and drivers honked horns in celebration.
His death came after weeks of fierce fighting for Sirte, one of the last remaining pockets of resistance.

Thanks gambianice!You have not only elighten Malick,but have taught most of us great lessons.When the truth is thrown at someone,it is just like a pot of hot pepper thrown at one's eyes. Malick is one of those people who will go out at 2pm and calls the sun as moon...lol. Since he is an uncle to my friend (Radio kangkang),I will start calling him Uncle too. Finally The mighty USSR crumbling u mentioned has nothing to do with any internal discontents rather a clash of two leading global systems (capitalism) V (Communism). The cold war has seen the biggest investment in intel/military than any other time in history. Key influential groups were bought by the west hence demand for independence were straight forward.

I you going to tell me the atrocities in Rwanda, the unrest in Congo, Sudan, Uganda, CAR, and even somalia are for democracy and voice of internal changes?

Military Science under the auspices of Strategic Defence & Security Studies is a world of its & definitely not a topic one can debate blindly.

Never belittle Gambia's Military & Intelligence capability. Who was the 1st African leader to asked Gadaffi to STEP DOWN? At the time many cried betrayal, but only honest ppl will tell truth in time of reality! Had Gadafi taken Jammeh's intel from onset he would have survived.

Whilst still in sierra leone did you know about the EXECUTIVE OUTCOMES and their role in that war?

Clinton and Blair administration fully aiding and betting those instabilities on the aforementioned whilst france is fully complicit in Ivory Coast in the past 5 years of proxy war.

Perphaps U will argue that the actions of Mark Thatcher and Simon Mann (caught in Zimbabwe) if successful were also the will of Equitorial Guineans???

Malick poorly arrange synopsis...very weak arguments as they dont reflect to realities of Global Geopolitics nor Gambia.

Changes in countries you mentioned were carefully ochestrated years back at special commission of Joint intel operational planning of NATO...The Arab spring was fully cooked, the strategic reconisance, recruitment of local proxies & deployment of agents were all mounted through a central control command...this includes Military, Political and Economic Planners.

Politically, Economically...lets now measure the aftermath of their grand strategy for "socalled democratic deliverance" and Economic Stability in say Iraq, Afganistan, Egypt? Success? Even Libya is just the beginning...

In Afghanistan Military Commanders advice the pentagon of failure and need to NEGOTIATE with Taliban, In Egypt the emergency degree has been strengthen and future political stability deemed and largely depends on the foresight of Military planners

Malick, you right about saudi and those arab countries and the so called allied, but wacth at the end of their friendship, they're hypocrites, they're thinking about bailing out Greece and the West from their crisis, while we Africans are being suffering for a long time, and all they gave us is chicken changes. you've to start listenned to the majority in the Gambia, that supports Jammeh, not the minority.

G..Even the Soviet Union who built all on earth to even venture in the moon by its leaders was not able to stop such path. This is what I see and know will happen to Gambia, if we all go on and live day to day since we are not affected. We will affected because I am Gambian and have everything there and wish her well and for all. Denouncing the things happening can even make people living in vengeance and anger and frustration that they are not alone which in human beings it gives direction and derail people from doing terrible things when that inevitable backfire comes. That said, god forbid, Iran in outer space with the USA is a sicking duck with its leader so don’t even think of military comparison if U know modern warfare. Bless u. You are here in online medias, an exiled medias, who U know if they step in Gambia at the statehouse will be another cry from their families like many in Gambia and other medias. This is a fact. Only if they condone yaya jammeh and change profession to praise him will they sleep at night if they are lucky. I hope U understand me, I don’t even condone any political party simply because they are even the most victimised in Gambia.
What I see is a country experiencing deaths, injustices, secret executions, political sacking, living in fear, and just living to survive and eat and condone the ruler if that will bring that. There is no way or demon or army or brave killers, or super suicidal supporter that stop inevitable backfire of that kind of ruling on a populace.

E..All those years is what they did, portrays him in Libya as saint. But that was not is not is in their mind nor will he know since he has made to subdue to his rule and country he thinks he owns. Even days ago people will I will die for him etc. He even calls them “my children “They love, “I brought them up”. The thing is they know he love them only if they obey and live by his one life and mentality among millions lives and mentalities. What he did to those who disagreed, they have seen, muted and lived with. May his soul rest in peace and god forgive him. But he brought that anger and vengeance on Libyans and not the West. Even without the west it will happen eventually now or later with a different means like in Liberia and Sierra Leone, Conakry, Bissau, Ivory Coast, Congo, etc.

it cannot deter such reaction from a society ruled by such leaders .If your children rose up to brutally killed each other just to have vengeance on the householder, you cannot blame the outsider but blame yourself and see where they got that hatred and vengeance from. This is what oppression and dictators do to their people and they in turn take the opportunity from outside to have vengeance on those who brought it to them. I feel so disgusted and really anger why Gadhafi was killed in such a manner and will have bring the person to justice for doing that if I was in NTC. But I don’t erase the fact that, he must have done something so unjust and terrible in them in his long stay for them to take that opportunity to finally nail him down with brutally and vengeance despite years of dancing and praising him and calling him all the nice things in the world and even see him as the freedom fighter of the wick against the west.

Even Saudi is included. You have to go to the basic which is; what is happening inside these countries that made its good citizens to take up an opportunity to kill one and other in vengeance and brutal way.For any human being, especially a society or countrymen to start killing one another especially the rulers and its cronies, is because he or they have perpetrated so much deaths,injustic e and brutally on that to the point that,they even see God they worship as an allied.
