Spanish demands immediate release of GAMCOTRAP top brass

Isatou_and_Amie1By Jollof News Staff Writer
The board of directors of the Spain based SOLIDARITY YOLOCAMBA, which sponsors GAMCOTRAP in its crusade against Female Genital Mutilation, has called for the immediate release of the detained Gambian activists accused by the Gambian government of theft.Isatou_and_Amie1
In a statement signed by the President of the board of Solidarity Yolocamba, the Madrid based organization said the problem that caused the arrest corresponds to an administrative process that must be resolved in a way that does not require any criminal justice.
“SOLIDARITY YOLOCAMBA demands the immediate release of members of the organization GAMCOTRAP, Dr. Isatou Touray and Amie Bojang Sissoho and respect for their human rights,” the statement said.
Dr Touray and Mrs Bojang were arrested and detained in some circumstances that have been described as a fishing expedition on the part of the Gambian authorities. President Yahya Jammeh’s stance against the global campaign against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and human rights activism in general, places him at odds with these women who are at the forefront of the struggle to eradicate FGM in Gambia. The decision to deny a bail application by the defense to what is a bailable offense also adds to the popular feeling of foul play by the Gambian authorities.
“The scope of solving the problems of managing cooperation funds must reside in the relationship between GAMCOTRAP, Yolocamba Solidarity, and the Spanish authorities”, said the board president in her statement sent to Jollof News.
And she added: “On the other hand, it is our duty to ensure the transparent management of public money is spent on international development cooperation, and declare that Yolocamba Solidarity has raised no legal complaint. We demand that the data provided in the interests of transparency and solutions are not used politically against GAMCOTRAP to damage its work in defending human rights of Gambian women.”
Yolocamba Solidarity (YS) is an NGO based in Spain which focuses on development works along secular and democratic lines and operates around the world in cooperation with civil society organizations.

.............. “Jammeh is making actions…”"
(?)I am confused, to say the least!

I thought you want the editor out of the debate?

Is this a declaration that the editor is once & for all out of the debate? If so, this will be my last debate, ever, with the editor.

.................... That said, maybe you will be interested in clearing the said contradiction to your readers (not me).

if u insist, i meant the issue of civil servants refusing to talk to the media was a subject we were going to deal with but not as an editorial. your comments kind of hasten it. In other words, we were going to do a story on it, but since you brought it up, not to let the urgency of the subject die, we decided to come up with it as an editorial. Does that explain it all?

Indeed, the Editor will continue debating, but only with those who wouldn't see such as against "ETHICAL OBJECTIVITY", in your own words.

Simply put, those who don't challenge your stance! Got the message clear, not a surprise. That said, maybe you will be interested in clearing the said contradiction to your readers (not me).

....As for the editorial, you may find this difficult to believe, but while comment no. 9 may have hasten its publication, it was not actually the sole reason for bringing it up. It was going to come, although in a different form....

In the said editorial you wrote:

Pa Badjie and co.how good and nice it will be if we can learn to be accurate and serious in our comments, deal with topics as how they appear. The topic here is the demand release of so called GAMCOTRAP top brass and some of you are still on their great pains of Anti Jammeh. Please lets practice accuracy and not being out of topic. Jammeh will always RISE to the highest height and let investigation take it part in GAMCOTRAP.IF THEY ARE NOT WRONG THEN EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT.

Jollofnews, you are getting way too sensitive. .....
You see, its very easy to criticise but always hard to be criticised, that's human and typical Gambian.

Lalo, What does BISSAU & CONAKRY share in common? He did not lie only about the destination but also the reason of travelling. That "other side" you call KIBAARO can never be KIBAARO becuase it is not. It is outright FANIYAA.

Pa Badjie or whatever you call yourself! Is that all you got? Come back to me when you are out of your shame and have more substance.
