London Letter: Free Dr Touray and Mrs Sissoho, say Spanish!
Sunday, 17 October 2010 00:37
Madrid, 17 October 2010SOLIDARITY YOLOCAMBA demands the immediate release of members of the organization GAMCOTRAP Dr. Isatou Touray and Amie Bojang Sissoho and respect for human rights. The problem that caused his arrest corresponds to an administrative process that must be resolved. Not for criminal justice. The scope of solving the problems of managing
cooperation funds must reside in the relationship between GAMCOTRAP, Yolocamba Solidarity, and the Spanish authorities. On the other hand, it is our duty to ensure the transparent management of public money is spent on international development cooperation, and declare that Yolocamba Solidarity has raised no legal complaint. We demand that the data provided in the interests of transparency and solutions are not used politically against GAMCOTRAP to damage his work defending human rights of Gambian women.MARÍA JESÚS GAYOL RODRÍGEZ
President of Solidarity Yolocamba
BOARD
It is quite clear that the issue is not a criminal one and should never have been used to detain these upstanding and heroic Gambian ladies. It really is also shocking that Gambian Ladies of such high repute should have been denied their constitutional right to bail on this innocuous complaint.
Kind regards,
Dida Jallow-Halake,

It is one thing to bring development that aids the rich and powerful business stake holders...
But it is completly incomprehensibl e to condemn those independent institutions working for the disenfrancised, ..and the majority, detached from wealth and equal opportunity.
The African citizens rights must be protected by government...and its independant law and its unassailable constitution.
Or the peoples mandate... to government is negated, neglected and irrepairably compromised.
Just what is the government thinking about here?
The people need to be reassured.
WE must be encouraged by the report today on Freedom Newspaper...that even Amie Bensouda...and other top rank Lawyers are now on this appauling case.
As you are aware...I have always had some little respect for President Jammeh, simply because I know their are the greedy and the liars in Gambia who will stoop so low to gain their own personal financial advantage. Not every bad thing that goes on is his fault.
We both know that?
The jewel in the crown of The President and indeed the Vice President...is womens rights.
Where do they stand now?
Was all this womens rights stuff just cosmetic....Or will they stand for these dear ladies...who are at the "cutting edge" {sorry for that} in the fight against FGM and other rights and womens health issues.
The Vice President must act now. They must be released.
If those who carry God's goodness in their heart..are themselves denied that bounty.
Then the human spirit dies.
