Jammeh asks for explanations on journalist's death
Monday, 06 December 2010 16:43
Gamsports - Gambian President Yahya Jammeh has asked the serious crime unit to probe into the tragic accident that claimed the life of young Gambian sports journalist Lamin
A Darboe. The journalist plunged to his untimely death when his car, with him inside, cascaded off the Banjul bound ferry boat into the deep blue sea with its human cargoes. Darboe's body was fished out later but the circumstances surrounding the incident have left painful questions opened, and putting the safety, or the lack of it at the ferries services to sharper focus.Accordingly the Gambian leader this week threw his weight on the matter according reports from Banjul by calling for a full investigation into the accident. From now, the serious crime unit shall interview people who might have seen, heard or knew what had happened on that fateful November morning.
