Guinea Bissau ex-Treasury secretary sent to jail

2006, when some people used forged signatures to acquire 75 million FCFA (about 164,000 dollars) from the Public Treasury."This ruling is unfair. I am going to appeal in the Supreme Court," Paula Costa was quoted as saying in her reaction to the verdict.
But reports say such judicial decisions are rarely adhered to in Guinea-Bissau.
According to the Xinhua News Agency of China, a similar case regarding the country’s Football Federation president who was sentenced to three years in prison, last year, for embezzling millions of FCFA given by FIFA. That official however remains free and continues to occupy a senior position in the public service.
