Gov't present pitiable spectacle over detention of Gambian air passenger

Ousman_JammehOver 24 hours after a Gambian national, apparently suspected of terrorism offences, was detained by US authorities, the authorities in Banjul continue to present a pitiable spectacle of 'not being informed' about the incident.
From State House in Banjul to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gambians Abroad, the response seems to be the same: "This is news to us."Ousman_Jammeh
The same could be said of the country's security organizations which also claim to not being fully aware of the arrest. Like a song, the same rhetoric has rendered futile our efforts to get any reaction from the Gambian government.
"What do you want me to do for a Gambian detained in Puerto Rico? Try to get in touch with Foreign Affairs," said Sulayman Secka, Police Public Relations Officer.
"Are you informing me? We are not aware of any arrest," said Mr Willy Joof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gambians Abroad.
Reacting to this development, a civil society activist said: "This shows how we are less highly regarded by our governments. When Western countries will deploy all their efforts to rescue their citizens, African governments deliberately choose to ignore the plight of their citizens."
Meantime, Salieu Badjan will have to face a continuing and cruel plight. Unless he is absolved by US investigators, his name will be added to the long list of the victims of African governments' slackness.

Pacco, I think you have to be corrected when you cannot even remember what was and is going on in your own country, the ladies or girls who were rescued in one of the Arab states is not the state or Kindom you've mentioned, this has happen in Kuwait, So I and you, who should Go back to the books for revission ? This was why I said, you're mixing the African morning Purradge with an okra here, so better analyze things well !
Also correct your name with a CAPITAL "P" not the small one as they taught us in primary level not where you are now for one to give you a lession online on such things !

Aama, am glad you brought the above examples up. Jammeh's rescue of girls from Saudi arabia, (i know one of the girls) rescue of football team in Boaukie, Lalo will not talk about these. God bless his soul. Lalo, i wont be your grade school teacher here. That was why you should have taken your education seriously. Your limited defination of Exposure shows how detached from reality you are

This is why I said before that, Are you really Pacco or Saako? Because you are mixing the Okra and the morning Purradge here which are two different things ! Gentle man, you have to first know the deferent between the Exposor and development, maybe these are the two things you yourself is not still expose to, let me give you an example, When the entire globe were talking of the exposor of Kwame Nkruma, Can you tell me what and what kind of expensive materials Ghana was having? or when they were talking of Patrice Lumumba what are the developments in the then Zaire, tell me?
And for the mangos juice Firms you're talking of, surely will one day be there let us take things accordingto our abilities and the little we have !

The government does it's best to intervene where it can, to aid our citizens. Examples: some years ago, Jammeh in person, managed to rescue 2 Gambians ladies who were made to believe that they were going to be offered decent jobs in an arab state but were later sold into slavery. He "bought" them back as it is the customs of that state and flew back with them to Gambia. When out football team was stranded in Abijan at the time of their crises, not only our team but the Siera Leone and Senegalese teams were air-lifted by our government. When a Gambian was killed by the British police, our Government intervened and demanded answers from the Britsih authorities. There are many other such examples. So it is misleading when some say government dont care for it's citizens abroad. We all don't know what sorrounds this particular case especially when it is about terrorism.

Mr Lalo, i think you are really kidding with yourself. Gambians or Africans are more exposed than people in the west!!! Are you really serious!! What has this so called exposure brought us. Tell me one thing. Cus the last time i checked, we could not process mango fruit into juice or paste or both. I think you are seriously out of your mind. If we Gambians were the most exposed, what the hell are you doing out here. You should have been nursing a pot-belly, may be as CEO of a Ford like company company in the Gambia.

Are you really Pacco or Saako, Maybe the later is better for you because you can't coop on what I was trying to explain here if only you are not a relative of such diplomacies in the corridor of power at the Marena Parade !
You shouldn't compare Africans to the West because in the west, they are not that expose even to their own environment much more the other parts of the world but for the Gambia, how many Gambians have you seen in your life not knowing such a simple things much more of knowing the most important document of our able country, if like the example you want to compare us to the west then you most be sick in the head, and for what i contributed towards the Gambia, I can say nothing financially but I once contributed my energy to served the Gambia on which Iam far more better than you, I used to make half of the Gambians if not all during my service as a squade player, So tell me what you've done for The Gambia better than what I did ?
Good luck Bro.

Our diplomatic missions abroad are basically to serve our government and sometimes our people back home. If you find yourself abroad, you have proved that you are independent enough to to paddle your own canoe. Our governments back home with their meagre resources at their disposal are not in any position to provide you the services that are usually available to citizens of western governments.

Citizens of western countries pay big chunks of their incomes on taxes especially in the EU. Ask yourself; how much tax money have you send to gambia government aside from remittances to your family. Remember, there is no such thing as a free meal! Even american citizens who paid taxes, cannot all be rescued from countries like Iran and N.korea

I think Lalo like the guy at state House you referred to are nockle heads. there are dumb and stupid people everywhere; in the village, city, and in the west. You are just as dumb as the person in state House for not knowing that there are dumb people even in the west. A lot of Americans ask me if i travel with a passport, a visa or mere ID. You thinking these type of people exist only in State House, the Gambia, earns you the title "Clueless fool"

One wonders why diplomatic relations are being extended everywhere when even those old established ones cannot serve our citizens well. The question of desperation for legitimacy crops up again!

Our government is really run by a bunch of arrogant and utterly inept idiots who are too intransigent to see admit their shortcomings.

I think most of our officers didn't know why they are even in that Big office with sitting on that Mahogany Chairs in their various offices, to one of my surprises which I will never ever forget in life, one of the Gambian officer from the State house was once commenting on the Gambian Passport that there is no expiry on it ! Another office jumped and told him that, Boy Yes it do expire do you remembered before our departure, I was asked to renew my documents and among them are my Passport !
What a shame, So how do you think about this ? An officer representing our Mighty State house don't even know that, the Gambian Passport has an expiry date?
It never happens in Kairaba's and his mafia Boys era, even though we used to call them semi-educates !
But only on Arafang Yahya's time this do happen.. Jeelanka you've to screen the state house abit to knowing such things.
