Gen. Lang Tombong & Co sentenced to death
Thursday, 15 July 2010 12:25
By Abdoulie JohnThe Banjul High Court on Thursday sentenced Lang Tombong Tamba, former Head of The Gambia Armed Forces and 7 other accused persons to death on two counts.
Judge Emmanuel Amadi awarded death sentence on treason, conspiracy to murder, and participating in an act to overthrow the democratically
elected government of President Yahya Jammeh. “They will suffer death in a manner authorized by the law,” he reiterated while handing down his verdict that plunged the court room into an atmosphere of sorrow.Before pronouncing the ultimate punishment, Justice Emmanuel Amadi gave an account of the proceedings that started few months back. He seized the opportunity to highlight the arguments of the prosecution star witnesses and come to the conclusion that it has “proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.”
Basing his verdict essentially on the testimonies made by Ebrima Marreh and businessman (editor: drug dealer) Rui Jabbi Gassama, he indicated the latter has corroborated the statement of the first prosecution witness whom he described as an “insider” who attended secret meetings held in order to conspire against the democratically elected government. Arguments such as the recruitment and training of 300 mercenaries at the border between Guinea Bissau and Guinea Conakry, the “spiritual machinery” that was deployed through the hiring of Marabout, etc, contributed in a big way to the option taken by Justice Amadi to opt for the accused persons to face death penalty.
While the prosecution wanted death sentence for the accused persons by insisting that there was an “attempt to kill”, Lawyers Tambadou, Pap Cheyassin Secka and Hawa Ceesay-Sabally successively appealed for leniency on the grounds that the death sentence may not be compulsory. The defense counsels also indicated that the accused have all served the country in various instances.
Appeal
Reacting to the verdict, lawyer Pap Cheyassin Secka expressed his disappointment to the death sentence that was required for their clients. "We are disappointed that they all have been found guilty and sentenced to death. Our clients pleaded not guilty and we will file an appeal."

Is this what you are left with?? As I said, your agenda and true colour is self-revealing and you are doomed ta fail. Loooooser!
I have always acknowledge most of the issues u raised about Jammeh. I am a very fair minded person. Jammeh's rule no doubt introduced us to a lot of violence. I always accept that.
However, when naived people like Joe say that we have to maxmize violence to confront Jammeh, i say to Joe, walk into any Gun store in Chicago n get yourself anything including RPG n meet Jammeh in Banjul. Because when Jammeh was frustrated with Jawara, he did it exactly the way a brave man would have done. So Joe if u are not as brave as Jammeh was, then lets do it my way;
Meet Jammeh, lets ask him what he wants n how we can tackle the issues together n may be offer him immunity so he could voluntary hand over. Spewing vitriol here just harden the brave. N Joe is not capable of changing that fact.

Ebrima, you had good words, if only yaya's the type as we all had wish. But remeber Allah didn't provide easy path for Mohammed(SAW)in his struggle to establish Islam neither will HE do for us for our prayers can't match the prophet's. It's permitted in Islam to take guns & fight yaya but we ain't doing that, are we? We're rather with the second option of commenting in strives to redress. Surely, God will only come to our side sooner with our actions in contributions than sit by & continue praying whilst our home's being dragged for civil strife which we ALL will pay dire price for. It's no crime to fight an enemy. One just need to be prudent on tactics utilised & signs are we're surely getting there.

Because you support Yahya Jammeh on TRIBAL GROUNDS.
BUT FOR US TO know what type (I DONT THINK YOU ARE GAMBIAN TRIBE)
you are, answer this question. DO YOU BELIEVE THAT YAHYA JAMMEH HAS DEVELOPED AND CAN CURE HIV AND ASHMA?
