Gambians stranded in Libya rescued by Morocco

Ship_TangiersJollofNews - A ferry carrying about 2,000 people evacuated from Libya, including Gambian citizens, arrived Sunday at the port of Tangiers in Morocco, AFP reported.
The boat which contained mostly Moroccan citizens was chartered by Morocco, and it is said to have travelled from the troubled Benghazi city in the east of Libya to Tripoli and then on to Tangiers, in northwestern Morocco.Ship_Tangiers
According to an AFP photographer cited in this report, a second boat was due later in the day.
Moroccan authorities put the total number of evacuees expected at the port of Tangiers on Sunday at 4,000. They said the first was carrying more than 1,400 Moroccans and several hundred others from other African countries, including Gambia, Senegal and Mauritania.
Last week opposition Foroyaa newspaper in Banjul reported that Gambian immigrants stranded in Libya, following outbreak of fighting between pro-democracy activists and Col. Ghadafi’s forces, had called its offices demanding what the Gambian government was doing to evacuate them.
There has been no official statement from Banjul as of yet.
AFP reported that the evacuated passengers, some in tears and holding children in their arms, were welcomed by aid workers when they disembarked and taken to waiting buses to be driven to various parts of the country.

I hope this opens the eyes of all the so called APRC supporters. This is how your God, sheik, dr.....Yaya treats it citizens.
I have witnessed the first lady on one of her many shopping trips in the US, and let me tell you that i was amazed with the amount of Louis Vuitton baggage's and other goods she was checking in for her flight home. Yet this imbicile can't even send a charter flight to rescue it's suffering citizens. Shame on you!!!! Down with Jammeh!!!!

Scales,

Sometimes I wonder who the hell you think you are to tell us how to go about business in our own country.

You damn well know Yaya Jammeh is not the type that gives a damn about petitions.

A source close to the corridors of power in Banjul is reporting that the govt of Gambia is fearful that these people would start a riot if they come back to Banjul.that is why the govt is slow to respond!!

If this is true, i find this very outrageous that up to this date our Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not even made a statement about how they plan to help these poor migrants.

I know Jammeh is always suspicious of Gambians abroad, but for God's sake! people's lives are at risk in this case!

The First Lady has a Plane waiting for her @ the airport anytime she wants to go on a shopping spree to Washington D.C. Why not use that same plane Mr. President to get Gambians from Libya?

There is a constructive "petition" available on Maafanta.

You may consider its merit for your democratic support?

Gambia government dont care About the welfare of Gambian national abroad.there is not functioning government in the Gambia, they are not representing Gambia.one who have thought that the government will send a carter flight to bring this Gambia home but they wont do it. If the morocco government dont help to rescue them it will be difficult for them, now they will have to fend for themselves in morocco.the least the Gambia government can do for it citizen is to release a statement and apologise for their incompentce and send a boat or a flight to rescue this people who are in a Very desperate situation.
