Gambian lawyers call off strike
Sunday, 16 January 2011 05:32
PANA - Lawyers under the banner of the Gambia Bar Association (GBA), have called off their three-day strike action, pending a review meeting, PANA
confirmed from here Friday. According to sources in Banjul, members of the GBA will hold a meeting on Monday to decide what line of action to take as the lawyers press that charges against their embattled colleague, Moses Richards, be dropped.'Yes, the strike came to an end today,” Sheriff Tambedou, GBA President, told the Point newspaper.
On what GBA will do if the charges against Richards are not dropped, Tambedou replied – “We will know that on Monday and we are still in touch with the relevant authorities to see that the charges against Moses Richards are dropped.'
The GBA members boycotted courts across the Gambia, demanding that charges against Richards be dropped.
Richards, a former High Court Judge who is now in private practice, was recently remanded at Gambia’s Central Prison of Mile 2 as he faced two counts of giving false information and sedition about President Yahya Jammeh.

Thanks to the outrage by the on-line media, Edu Gomez is denying that he threatened Gambians in the diaspora and has complained about the Daily News misquoting him.
It is time we meet fire with fire because as things stand today, we in the Gambia are dealing with a very callous and uncouth brute who has become adept at manipulating our gullible folks. We will not reserve this fire when it comes to our opposition leaders. It seems we will have to go down on our knees to beg these people to assume a more militant posture towards this inept one man show called a government.
This is a perfect opportunity to restore sanity in the system and take back our once respected legal system from those these hired legal thugs from Nigeria. We look up to our legal professionals to refuse to be jerked around by an O'Level holder and his cabal of crooks.

It’s started now with the Lawyers direct; who are a very sensitive aspect of the civil dispensations on judicious matters of state. The ‘call-off’ though not clear yet, indicated a back-down of the Kanilai-opressor. This action of the GBA implies a positive match towards our greater goal of freeing the communities so long oppressed since July 1994. No room for complacency; but a little bit of patience, with continued-endeavour in our resolved desires & aspirations to free Gambia for all; just fancy little bit of time fellows...every dog with its day?
