Binghamton University men's basketball player Mahamoud Jabbi (pronounced MA-HA-mood JOB-ee) has proven he adjusts to whatever is thrown at him as well as anyone.

His track record speaks for itself.
The senior forward has handled a switch in schools and the jump from NCAA Division III to Division I by transferring to BU from SUNY Oswego. A native of Serrekunda, Gambia, he's adjusted to life in a new country.
Jabbi, 23, has been a consistent bright spot for a very inconsistent team. BU is 6-14 and 3-4 in the America East Conference after losing its fourth game in a row on Sunday.
In his second season with the Bearcats after transferring from SUNY Oswego, Jabbi leads the team in average rebounds per game (6.9), blocked shots per game (1.6), free throw percentage (80 percent), 3-point shooting percentage (46 percent), and he is the second-leading scorer averaging 9.7 points per game.
Jabbi is 6-foot-7, 185 pounds, has long, skinny arms and legs and not a discernable ounce of fat on his body. He looks like a very tall long-distance runner.
He glides up and down the court, eating up ground. When he elevates to take a left-handed jump shot, he often does it so fluidly that the shot almost sneaks up on defenders before they have a chance to contest it.
Off the court, he displays a polite and cordial demeanor that seems more suitable for a diplomat than a power forward.
"(He is) just a tireless, hard worker who is just a constant bundle of energy all the time," BU interim head coach Mark Macon said of Jabbi. "His liveliness is not only on the floor, but outside of this court area -- how he interacts with people, how he interacts when we bring recruits in -- he is a bundle of joy to be around. I call him the ambassador."
Jabbi was born in Libya, but his father, Jabou, moved the family to Gambia to be closer to other family members. He lived in Gambia from the age of 6 until the age of 10 then moved to the Bronx.
