Our Gratitude to U.K Islamic MissionThe Gambia relief Agency wish to thank the U.K Islamic Mission (Birmingham Branch) for donating several boxes of educational materials in September 2010. The books included religious text of the highest quality, philosophy, sociology, language and other miscellaneous materials for people in the Gambia.
The books where distributed by Yankuba Ceesay to the Gambia College and university of Gambia. Mr Ousman Bojang of Muslim Hands also help in distributing the books to diverse number of people, whilst Ousman
Touray and Lamin Marena distributed some books and DVDs to people in the rural areas. We are delighted with the feedback from the public, a demand for more books has been expressed. The demand for DVDs and educational material is high and Gambia Relief Agency wish to continue facilitating the collection and distribution of the materials. We thank Salim and Allah Ditta at the U.K Islamic Mission Birmingham, with young helpers like Imran.
I remember driving with Allah Ditta miles away to purchase new books in the factory at Leicester City. Such is the kindness, dedication anc concern for others manifested by the efforts. Some of the encyclopaedic books cost more than £17 or D800 each. 150 classic commentary of the Quran in Arabic and English was donated. These commentaries are the best in the market. Several boxes of science books, intellectual discursive books etc were also donated. The total number of books donated is more 7000 copies. We cannot thank them enough. All of the cost of the purchase and packaging was paid for by the U.KIM Birmingham branch. The books will made in good use by the College and University students. Some Mosques were also targetted in our distributions.
We finally thank all the volunteers at the centre
