Gambia May Host 2011 Zone Two
Wednesday, 06 July 2011 22:53
(Gamsports) - The Gambia could be going into an end of year international football festival if rumours within the football circles in Banjul are anything to go by.
Reliable sources confided to Gamsports that the GFA is seeking to convince government to step in hosting the Zone TWO football tourney, should Guinea failed to host it this year too. According to our information, the GFA is expected to set up a committee to be tasked to look into the feasibility of a Banjul tournament this November or December. Though some observers contacted by Gamsports ruled out such an event at a time when national elections are expected, others believed the government will jump at the idea for the same reasons.
The Gambia has never won Zone TWO though it has provided some of the best organised hosting in the history of the event, notably 1980, 1985 and 1997.
