Gambia hikes pump price of diesel
Saturday, 11 December 2010 12:59
PANA - The Gambian government on Friday announced a price hike for diesel, jerking the pump price
per litre from 33 dalasis to 35 dalasis (US$ 1 = 28 dalasis), PANA reported from here. In a statement through the Finance Ministry, the government said the “increase has been necessitated by the fact that the global price for fuel has been on the rise throughout the year.”This is the second time in one year that the Gambian government has increased the price of fuel.
In May, the government announced a price hike for both diesel and petrol, saying the development “reflects the rising price of fuel in the world market.”
However, the government made it clear that the latest increment would not affect the pump price of petrol, which remains the same.
