Gambia goes down big; an ugly start for CAN 2012
Monday, 31 May 2010 14:20
The pride and joy of watching the Scorpions on International Television quickly eroded last Sunday after the Mexicans
started raining the goals on Pa Dembo Touray; five to be precise and disgraceful and embarrassing to say the least. This tune up game played in Germany is one that will jump start a lot of debate on the state of preparedness for the Boys and I am sure Sports Pundits and Beat Writers
cannot wait for Monday morning with some classic newspaper headlines that will convey a strong message to the football Authorities that they have their work cut out for them, because anything short of qualifying out of our grouping will not be acceptable and this time around, there will be no impromptu congress and back door deal, they’ll be shown the exit signs out of FA headquarters. After watching the game, I'll say one thing, the only beauty was seeing the Gambian flag, save for the latter, it was the ugliest outing any Gambian could have seen................. UGLY! The boys showed no coordination, they were disorganized and showed no sense of urgency, in short they were not ready to play and that falls on the shoulders of the coaching staff and needs immediate fixing and the FA needs to stay on top of their game and ensure that happens forthwith. The FA also needs to apologize to the Gambian nation and its citizens all over the world for the disgrace brought on our country last Sunday. It was the ugliest defeat in a long time and its definitely going to impact our slide in the next FIFA ranking.
Mexico we all know chose to play Gambia to at least gain some experience on how Africans play since they are pencilled against South Africa. If their coaching staff believed they learned something after their massacre of Gambia, they will be in for a rude awakening because the Bafana Bafana will never put up a disgraceful show like our Boys, that’s food for thought.
Now coming to a little positive, we must all agree that the FA did the right thing to organize test games for the boys, great, they deserve a pat on the back, quite laudable and commendable on their part.
However it will be absurd to think that it’s okay to arrange games and send an unprepared team to take the beating they did and thus embarrassing 1.6 Million people. Evidently Secretary General Bojang, the great Spin Doctor for the FA is preparing to bring out the usual excuses yet again, but Mr. SG it will not work this time around, fix it or make space for a new team, we have enough time to get it fixed.
In conclusion; Gamsportsonline wishes to apologize to the entire Gambian nation for the disgraceful and embarrassing beating we took at the hands of the AMIGOS. Namibia, Mauritania and Burkina were surely watching in Germany and unless changes and corrections are effected, it will be DEJA VU all over again. Source: Gamsports
A simple route to success for the FA is, TESITO!
