French student seeks help in Gambian English, Wolof
Friday, 21 January 2011 12:49
I am a French student and I study languages (English and Spanish). I have to make a presentation about
a variety of English and I am interested in the English spoken in Gambia.I would want help in finding an article about this. I have to study the pronunciation, the grammar and the vocabulary used.

I am particularly interested in some examples of typical expressions in Gambia. That is to say colloquial phrases that wouldn't have the same meaning in Great Britain for instance or that integrate words from other languages.
Furthermore, it would be interesting to have a phonetic alphabet to have an idea of the English pronunciation in Gambia.
I am also interested in the incorporation of words from other languages such as Wolof.
