It could be recalled that news about Fatu’s reproduction of a child at age 10 warranted the sympathy of especially Diasporas, who serially have opted financial sponsorship for the 10 year old mother and her child.
BBC reporter and President of Sierra Leone Association Journalists (SLAJ), Umaru Fofanah, who received inundated calls from several interested, later visited the mother of Fatu as a follow up to the publication by Sierra Express Media, at her market stall at Congo market west of Freetown.
Fatu’s mother who was approached for comment was jittery and could not ascertain the real age of her daughter.
She recalled that Fatu would turn 14 in March 2011, but the Aunt who is a literate, told this press that she will be 11 in March.
A team of reporters from this medium also visited the home and much to their dismay, the Mum reported that Fatu has taken to the street with the baby and her whereabouts is still shrouded as it is a big disgrace and a taboo to her family.
