El Hadji Diouf banned from driving
Saturday, 08 May 2010 19:39
Premier League footballer El Hadji Diouf has been banned from driving for six months after admitting several offences.
The Blackburn Rovers player was sentenced for three matters in July, September and November, by Tameside magistrates in Greater Manchester.
They included speeding, and driving without a licence or insurance.
The 29-year-old striker, of Lostock, Bolton, did not attend the hearing on Friday.
In the first incident, in July, he was recorded speeding at 38mph in Chorley New Road, Bolton - which had a speed limit of 30mph. He pleaded guilty by letter earlier this year.
Two months later he was stopped by police in a white Porsche Cayenne in Altrincham Road, Wythenshawe.
Penalty points
He failed to produce documents seven days later and was charged with having no licence, failing to provide his licence and failing to produce his insurance certificate.
Diouf's solicitor said his client also admitted separate charges of speeding and failing to give the information of a driver in November 2009, as well driving without a valid licence and failing to produce an insurance certificate.
He was given the driving ban because of the number of penalty points he incurred.
The player was also fined £810 and ordered to pay £105 in costs. Source: bbcsports
