Editorial: What is next for the Palermo Mafia?
Tuesday, 28 September 2010 13:56

Whether you share any favorable feeling for the negative press these awards received or not, you must come to the ultimate realization that we can no longer pretend. The palpability of the aura of shame is overwhelming; and the saddest thing is that it is written on the face of every Gambian and none-Gambians associated with the country.
Reading such a widely published report of the White House distancing itself from an award to our president is as shocking as it is shameful. This is not what Gambians bargained for.
While the ‘Admiral of Nebraska’, President Yahya Jammeh, can’t be totally exempted from the blame of this whole chronicle, he, more than anyone else, is obliged to take the lead in a much needed damage limitation exercise; now that it is clear someone is out to compromise his (Jammeh’s) image just to remain fraudulently loyal to him.
The State House officials responsible for vetting such awards before they are brought to the attention of the president ought to be dealt with, as this has proven beyond doubt that they do not deserve working for the state at that level. Thanks to their naivety, Gambians are in what can only be described as a national shame.
The representative of the IPSP who is presently in Gambia should be arrested for being part of a deceitful group who wheedled our president into openly accepting fabricated awards.
The ‘Admiral of Nebraska’ must do something to redeem our image!

The credit was all yours.I employed you because of your abilities - not to do you a favour. Keep up the good work and thank Allah, not me.
Kind regards to you and yours,

Thanks for those good words. You are a very big part of whatever I am doing well today in terms of journalism. My joining the Daily Observer was indeed instrumental in shaping me into what I am today, which I am very proud of. So I am grateful to you for that.
About the ‘awards’, today President Jammeh has never had so willing a participant as this present management of the Daily Observer… So, for me, knowing what I know about the place, I am not at all surprised.
Given the hopelessness abound in the possibility of change in Banjul, which is something Gambia very much needs today, depriving Yahya Jammeh of these morally bankrupt people who carry his grubby deeds seems to be the only way out.
People ought to earn their positions, that way they will not think of sacrificing innocent souls in pursuit of fictitious trust. The situation in Gambia is really inexplicable…
But also agree with Samba that Jollofnews not being drag into such Childish, Irresponsible, and irrelevent effort writings towards Samsudeen Sarr by Momodou K. Sonko, Once senior coupist collaborator with Jammeh.
When we were at the Daily Observer, we refused to publish this kind of "awards" nonsense from the likes of JT Kujabi and Hassum Ceesay of State House and made enemies as a result. We also banned the word "Felicitations" if you remember. I think the State House Press Corp DUG A HOLE FOR THEMSELVES by trying to please the BIG MAN with this awards nonsense and we should have no sympathy whatsoever for the BIG SHAME they have brought upon themselves and the Presidency.
Kind regards and keep up the good work (They say "Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining" - and look at the EXCELLENT newspaper you have established after being forced away from the Daily Observer. Keep up the good work you have established - and pity the Daily Observer which chased away a talent like yourself).

Can you please convey to PA NDERRI OF FREEDOMNEWS P. that Samsudeen Sarr is not Gambian problem or the one who kills Gambians. He should instead make that
... Momodou K. Sonko, PhD Candidate in Information Technology (IT). Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BIT).....
to tell Gambians how come he joined a coup with his juniors and the abuses he did or knew during his tenure with Yaya jammeh. Liberia, this idiot is constantly bragging about is experiencing some democracy, while Gambia is the worst in our Sub religion. What is wrong with this Sonko and why your college PA NDERRI encouraging him in his opportunist path instead of letting him reveal all he did and know with Yahya Jammeh. I am glad that Jollofnews has not encouraged this "VERY EDUCATED SONKO?" TO USE HIS EDUCATION NOT ON SAMDUDEEN SARR INSTEAD, ON THE DICTATORIAL RULE OF YAHYA JAMMEH AND HIS ROLE IN IT.
Why is Jammeh able to hire and fire at will? Because he has a ready supply of fools willing to serve as recyclable material for his insatiable machine of corruption and inefficiency.
Jammeh's madness is akin to a raging fire that will continue to blaze it's path of destruction for as long as our people are willing to serve as a limitless supply of combustible material for the raging inferno. Yes, it is time we focus on the real wolves under all that wool and discredit them for the shameless parasites that they are.
