Editorial: The Devil incarnate

Pa_Malick_FayeThis might appear to some a little bit off the line; but it is very necessary. We are quite aware that dedicating a whole editorial to a reprobate like Pa Malick Faye, the head of the Daily Observer Newspaper, is recipe for his promotion, given that attribution of miscreants like him to terror in the name of safeguarding the APRC has served more as a cause for recognition and promotionPa_Malick_Faye for many of them these days. Nonetheless, we deem this move necessary, at least for the safety of one of our members, the Gambian Affairs editor of Jollof News, Abdoulie John.
It is our view that anticipating their ploys and unveiling them to the public is the only way to deter people like Pa Malick from passing to act. After all, this is well in line with the ideals of freedom and democracy that have given birth to Jollof News.
Pa Malick Faye is among the few people in Gambia who hide behind their shoddily acquired influence over the power that be to destroy the Gambia. He has done so many bad things that should warrant his arrest and trial, even if not for the good of the many families he has broken apart or the many innocent souls destroyed, but for his part in turning the APRC government and institutions like the NIA into the monster image it commands among many terrified Gambians today.
Just about two weeks after we reported the death threats received by the founder of this online news media, Mr John has become the latest target for elements of murderous inclination within the Gambian government. This time it is Pa Malick Faye who is behind it. We have uncovered his dirty effort to gain recognition, probably in pursuit of some more high profile appointment or something, by branding Abdoulie John as working for Jollof News, which he [Malick] is labelling an ‘‘anti-government’’ online newspaper.
GRTS_Modou_SanyangWe have absolutely no intention to waste time in belabouring on whether we are anti-government or not; we’d rather leave that judgment for the readers to make.
The one thing we would want to emphasize here, however, is that if providing a medium that gives equal opportunity for every Gambian to express their views on what they think about the country and the way it is run is equal to anti-government activities, we are more than proud and are ever resolved to continue on that line. The government has enough media to propagate its stance, albeit against all ethics of journalism.
No amount of intimidation can deter us; not even death threats!
Having said that, knowing what agents of death like Malick and his very many kinds in Gambia are capable of, we take this reference to Jollof News and the apparent threats to its Gambian affairs editor very seriously. There are more than enough evidences to show for what these elements of destruction within the present Gambian government are capable of doing. We are therefore calling on the Gambian authorities, this time through the vice president as the head of the National Security Council, to take note that we are aware of what some section of the security thinks.
The disappearance of Journalist Chief Ebrima Manneh is certainly enough of a problem for Gambians. This Pa Malick has a hand in it; and now he is trying to lure some security people in his latest dirty scheme against an innocent reporter with better prospect that him. He did it in connivance with Momodou Sanyang and former IGP Ensa Badjie, and Abdoulie John was unfairly arrested, a fact that appeared in the US Department of States Human Rights Reports of the Gambia. And now, he is trying it again. We all know what it means branding people, especially journalists, anti-government in Gambia.
While that US report might not mean anything to the Gambian government, it is arguable that such avoidable issues can be prevented ifGambian_IGP people like Malick are gotten rid of from the system. They serve no good for either the Gambian people or the government, yet they continue to make the latter take responsibility for so many unbecoming occurrences.
The Constitution of the Gambia as well as other international legal instruments the country subscribes to are supposed to serve as guarantee to our right to free flow of information and information dissemination, which is exactly what we are doing. If for some reason some people think they can achieve their dastardly selfish ambitions to gain their way through to the top of the ladder by victimizing perceived enemies of the state, and stifling the press by declaring it anti-progress, they must be in a dream land.
These people who tag innocent Gambians as enemies of progress are doing nothing but disservice to the Gambian people. It is extremely disheartening to learn that there are always people like them ready to sacrifice collective national interest for individual gains. It is as if they aren’t learning from the present unfolding situation.
Shame on you!

Bamba we don't need to personally attack each other here if you can't accept my apologies then be living as you feel, I never talk to you but our able sister is the veryone iam talking to, Be fully mature to learning to know how you will beable to be patient in a heated debating arena, if only you evey sat an examination in primary six during the days of Kairaba in office because days I want to recall your mind to if only you are older enough to recall your mind to those days, if not ask Arafang Yahya about those days what a common Entrance was ? And try to emulate the name of our great "BAMBA" you are using here, He was a tollerance member who everyone wants to emulate.
In the service of those knowing the apology and wanting to accept it, I remain here for !

Londonni,
Apology accepted and I cant remember using this word which in our culture is an insult but in the west is a correction that means nothing. But since if I have used it is not acceptable I apologize. Remember the power of women is the mouth other than that we cant harm. We are all Gambians and we should learn to love and accept each other. Lets move forward but you know this government is a government that brought we women to the international areana and anyone against it be ready to defend yourself other than that this is only politics that should not divide us but put us together.

Bintou....Reading through your comments, one could easily tell how soft and admirable your characters are....Am sorry if you misunderstood me as well...I only meant rectifying you but not otherwise...You used 'stupid' in describing someone which i said might not be the prefered word and that you should avoid writing directly what you feel others feel....I do count on your manners and soft political debates and hope to honour your invitation for a special ''Domoda and Benachin'' show.....lol....Feel good ma sis!!.....

Did I hear you mention that I commented rudely? If so can you quote it for me. I am so careful with what I say. It may be hard fact that I express. Sorry my brother if my comment is misunderstood but you people are all my brothers who I will cook nice domoda or benichin, sit and share, drink, cook attire and we sit and have our political debate were you can also crush me on the wrong doings of women and I will hit you back. The people who suffer most are the people who cannot play the political game. All of you know can beat me physically but if you will give chance to speak you will apologize. Brother once again forgive me but I have not expressed here something that is rude may be is the fact that people dont like these days but we have to say what is real.

It seems all blames are being casted on righteousness..What of our contradicting lady (BINTOU)..Back home our culture is respect to your elder and leader.Having said that..How comes that absurd-understatement then?..Absurd in the sense that the descriptive adjective ''STUPID'' is improper to use for HE The Professor.!!...Putting in writing what you feel people feel could simply classify you to their calibre...Righteousness is being provoked by the undiscipline reaction towards his President...Remember you only get discipline in return for discipline accorded....

Bro Kafuta, eventhou gh I am one of the victims of righteousness' style of discourse (and thanks for the intervention), I would not go to the extend of asking Jollof news to get rid of him. Would jollof news then not fall in the same category you are criticising the DO for? Don't you think so? Yes, we should address and caution anyone who uses unacceptable and disrespectful lanugauge towards anyone here (INCLUDING JAMMEH WHO HAPPENS TO BE OUR HEAD OF STATE, NO MATTER WHAT). No one deserves to be thrown insults at. If we can't make it our common responsiblity to at any time address ANYONE who throws insults at ANYONE (again, INCLUDING YAYA JAMMEH), it will be bias and a double standard to point to only individual cases. In that case, Jollofnews should revisit their guidelines and execute them without any compromise or bias.

Quoting righteousness:
We patriotic Gambia will praise President Jammeh to maximum.Pulo what experience do you have in life other stupid criticism and nonsense talks.who do you want us to praise? your father? Rubbish!

What is ur problem, Rihteuousness? r u insinuating that not those of us who prefer not to motgage our souls by praising Jammeh are not patriotic? You know, it is ever clear that u are a nuisance in this site. Jollofnews should get rid of u, because you r not helping the cause at all. The best place for you is the Daily Observer, where the daily headline is thank you Mr President.
It is really funny, isn't it? There is no news in Gambia other than thank you, Mr President. what a joker president!

Lalo Keba
Apology accepted and I will give a cool can drink to my brother Bamba to accept your apology and I know he will. Brother Bamba lets accept his apology and the truth is that most people think Jammeh is stupid because of his level of education. The man is intellegent and no matter how you change your colour he knows your orignal colour. He use to say that if you want make your body, family and propertises green but its your actions that is influenced by the heart that tells him where you belong to. We have seen people we thought are un- touchable were the ended. This is why the president said he dont now need a friend because people use it to high-jack others. Lets move on time will tell. Some predict soon Jammeh will go but even if this happens which will only happen when God decide, heros die in their thrones or war front and this is how Africa lost his great people. We need people like Lalo keba in this forum with great experience and knowledge.

This is a problem in the Gambia, people will do anything just to get that position(greed) .I read the daily observer everday and anybody with a open mind knows that observer is the mouth piece for the Gov't, 99.99% of the stories are about jammeh and the endless letters praising him.Jammeh loves to be praise, and people know that.I know people who get big gov,t jobs with no experience all, the only experience they have is how to praise jammeh. How much experience did Njogu Bah have to be appointed head of the Civil Service or a cabinet Minister? The only experience he had was how to praise and campaign for jammeh in Geogia. As Gambians we are our own enemies and is about time we take our destiny in our own hands,God is not coming down to rescue us.Gambians made Jammeh the monster he is by treating him like God,all this praises and delegations are nonsense and should stop.Lets see how many millions the gov't and NGO's going to spend on his coming birthday,it might even be a public holiday!sad
