Sunday, 09 October 2011 17:22
(StarAfrica) - Gambia captain Pa Dembo Touray has said that he is considering international retirement. The 31-year old goalie hinted reporters that this weekend’s 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burkina Faso may be the last time he is featuring in the national colours.
After 15-year stint with the national team, the Swedish-based player believes the time is ripe to call it quits.
“I always said that this will be my last game but the coach said that he needs me because he knows what I can do but the problem is we don’t have a goalkeeper who is playing at the same level like me,” the veteran goalie told national daily Gambia observer.
Contrastingly, Gambia never qualified for a any major tournament during the 15-year stint of Pa Dembo including next year’s Orange Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
