Brave Warriors Preparing for Gambia Clash

Gam_and_NamBrian Isaacs, Brave Warriors coach, has said preparations for the last AFCON 2012 qualifier against the Gambia that will be played on Saturday at the Independence Stadium are going well.
“Training is going really well as all the players arrived on time, we are just waiting for the guys who went to Angola for the FESA tournament to arrive later today,” Isaacs said.
“So far we have no injuries in the squad that I am currently working with, but I am not sure about the players who were playing in Angola, I will have to see when they arrive,” he added.Gam_and_Nam
Some of the players selected for the Brave Warriors team who travelled to Angola include Willy Stephanus, Larry Horaeb, Alfeus Handura, Petrus Shitembi, Roger Katjiteo, Benson Shilongo, Steven Sabatha and Eslin Kamuhanga.
Isaacs added that the South African based players had also joined the camp.
“The South African based players arrived in Windhoek yesterday,” he said.
The South African based players are, Virgil Vries, Ephraim Tjihonge, Rudolf Bester and Tangeni Shipahu.
The Gambian side arrived in Windhoek on Tuesday morning.
The Brave Warriors are currently at the bottom of their group after losing all three of their matches so far. Burkina Faso are leading the group with nine points followed by Gambia with three points.
“The Gambians have 12 professionals in their team and that will make things difficult for us,” Isaacs said about the opponents.
“They are also a very physical side and we will try and come up with a game plan that will neutralise this,” he added.
The Gambians will be without the services of their Portland Timbers defender, Mamadou Futty Danso who injured his hamstring while playing for his club two weeks ago.
Gambia’s Belgian coach, Paul Put The Observer that he was still considering including Ousman Jallow who had been out after contracting Hepatitis B.
"Ousman Jallow has just returned to training two weeks ago so we will have to be very careful with him. Yes, he is invited but I will make a late decision on him because he was sick."
Other players that did not make the trip are Kebba Ceesay, Pa Saikou Kujabi and Njogu Demba-Nyren. Kebba has a one-match ban after he received his second yellow card during the Burkina Faso qualifier last year.
Pa Saikou and Njogu made themselves unavailable for the match as they are trying to secure new clubs.
Players that are set to play in the match scheduled for 15h00 are Mustapha Toubabo Jarju (Vancouver Whitecaps), Abdourahman Dampha (Neuchâtel Xamax), Momodou Ceesay (MSK Zilina), Seyfo Soley (Doxa Katokopia), Omar Jawo (Syrianska FC) and Lamin 'Basmen' Samateh (NK Lokomotiva Zagreb).
