Sunday, 09 May 2010 14:03
After wide spread reports about her accusation of involvement in the arson attack that left part of the mangrove
swamp in Banjul burnt down, the case of Aji Mbahey Ndure, last Friday, took a new dimension.Detained by police some days back, allegedly on the orders of some rogue elements, the old woman’s alleged unfair treatment attracted a lot of attention.
A few days after the publication of an anonymous letter, giving another side of the story favorable to the accused, the authorities appeared to have seen wisdom and granted her bail.
According to sources close to the accused, the case was adjourned to two weeks from now.
Mrs. Ndure, who lives in Lancaster Street in Banjul, stands accused of setting fire to a part of the swamp around Denton Bridge. She denies it.
