Arrest Warrant Issued For Col Gaddafi

Ghadafi_wanted(BBC) - The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi.
The court had accused him of crimes against humanity and of ordering attacks on civilians after an uprising against him began in mid-February.
The Hague-based court also issued warrants for two of Col Gaddafi's top aides - his son Saif al-Islam and intelligence chief Abdullah al-Sanussi.
Thousands of people are believed to have been killed in the conflict.Ghadafi_wanted
ICC presiding judge Sanji Monageng said there were "reasonable grounds to believe" that Col Gaddafi and his son were "criminally responsible as indirect co-perpetrators" for the persecution and murder of civilians in Libya.
The warrants had been requested by chief ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo in May, who said the three men bore responsibility for "widespread and systematic attacks" on civilians.
Mr Moreno-Ocampo said the court had evidence that Col Gaddafi had "personally ordered attacks on unarmed Libyan civilians and was behind the arrest and torture of his political opponents.
The Libyan authorities have previously said they do not recognise the court and were not concerned by the threat of a warrant.
On Sunday, government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said the court was overly preoccupied with pursuing African leaders and had "no legitimacy whatsoever".
The arrest warrant was welcomed by UK Foreign Secretary William Hague, who said it further demonstrated "why Gaddafi has lost all legitimacy and why he should go immediately".
Mr Hague called on people within the Libyan regime to abandon Gaddafi and said those responsible for "atrocities" must be held to account.

You mean none of the weapons found in Africa come from Europe or America? If you asking me to get my facts give me the figure of arms supplied to Africa. Badara anything we discussing here is never primary information but secondary information that we all make our research to argue if our feelings and emotions did not let us down. You are not the primary source of the statistics discussed here to tell me to get my facts. Cool it down

Get your facts right about Africa. The bulk of arms in Africa never came from the WEST. look up their made and source not sold or manufactured in West. Get it? It came from China, Asia and the ex soviet blocs outside the EU. They have very strict and jail term for selling weapons to Africa nowadays. Please stop this hatred and racistic tendencies and look at where is the problem with your own people. Again the bulk of arms used to kill are definately not from the west and I think 16 containers of arms in Lagos will tell who are africa's problems.

..and it came to pass...that Jesus of Nazereth came upon a gathering of townsfolk preparing to stone an alledged unfaithful women.

Jesus picked up a stone and offered it to the crowd..saying,

Let he amongst you who is without sin..

caste the first stone?

All of us mirrow Christs walk to the cross...at sometime in our lives.

But through his resurection we are all offered salvation.

The ancient jewish scriptures explain that we all are set to trials everday of our lives.

Wisdom is more precious than gold.

Hindsight is the curse of all history.

If only?

This is why I say that we don’t have a competent opposition to represent and raise our concerns. But saying this and discussing has become a taboo. Having these discussions even online within opposition members generates a lot of heated debate that end up attacking each other. The truth is that to be an opposition in Africa you have to sacrifice your life for the country not becoming a coward and living out of the country. We can see this from Mandala who today is admired by all. To my doubt we have Mai Fatty has a leader of an opposition party base in Senegal. He knows the constitution of the Gambia better than me. To my surprise the IEC is not even naming the party and we have 5 months to elections. Who is this man then representing when he was making trips abroad speaking for Gambians. Jammeh may be a problem but the main problem is Gambians don’t have a party to trust. This is the view shared by many.

So rightly or wronly (wronly in my view) these US/Western leaders are acting in their national interest.

But how can the killing/maiming/inprisonment of hundreds of oppsition activists in,say,Zimbabwe /Central African Republic,Algeri a or the harassment of UDP surporters in The Gambia, be in our countries' national interests?

How can the total monopoly of the sand mining sector in The Gambia under Jammeh's yellow trucks be in our national interest? Today many drivers who used to rely on this sector for their livelihood are denied access to the best sand.

So whilst US/Western leaders vigorously pursue their national interest, our leaders pursue personal interest more than the national interest.

That's why I do not think of them in the same way,ML.

So if a leader (Saddam Hussein/Gadaffi) is threatening your cheap source of raw materials(oil), you find an excuse to remove him/them. And in doing so you actually achieve more than one priority.

How? These leaders have got huge armies so they can only be removed through conflict. That means heavy military machines & weapons have to be used, military installations,a s wel as civilian infrastructures will be destroyed, etc.

Now who manufactures these equipments & weapons? The USA & the West. Isn't that good business for the arms industry? Doesn't that mean more jobs for their citizens and more money for the country?

What about the rebuilding process after the conflict? When the radar stations, airpor ts,roads, bridge s,communication networks, etc are to be rebuilt. Who has the expertise and the finished products for these projects? The USA & the West ofcourse.

'...To defend the national interest of their countries..' That's the main difference between our leaders & US/Western leaders.

Let me make it clear to all that I do not support the idea of pursuing your national interest at the detriment of other nations.

But for the sake of argument,we know the US & the West rely on the procurement of cheap raw materials from around the world(Africa included)and the manufacture & export of arms, goods & services to the rest of the world.

So if you are a leader in these countries(espec ially US),what would be your priorities?

-securing, as well as, looking for new sources of cheap raw materials;
-ensuring that you have a market for your goods(arms) & services;etc..etc..

Cont from below:
Why not you think the same for our leaders? Saying this does not mean I agree with anything that has to do with suppression of opponents or critics. Change can only come within the minds of the people not making resolutions and laws in conferences that are implemented base on who you are to the West. An arrest for Gaddafi, why not NATO presidents and prime ministers because they bombing and killing civilians in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan with secret detentions all over the world? Why are they opening military bases all over for what? When you join the US marine the oath you take is you are there to defend the interest of US at all cost which is the same for all countries. I real like people who come with figures to back their argument and I give credit to Bob and Freedom. You can only anticipate for change but what happen you cant tell because you are not going to lead and the one who will lead will have different people of different agendas appointed.

I am not going to go into all you comment that I agree most with you. If you look at the data given by Bob and Freedom, these are just recent figures that is under Obama of all people who called for changed and stopping wars and a world free of Nuclear arsenals. In the UK is a new leader who most today regretted voting. The unemployment is rising in both countries and for Obama of all people who promised changed has started a new war and there is a possibility for hitting Iran in the protection of Israel but under the pretext of Nuclear disarmament. I am mentioning this to tell you what grantee you and give you hope with a change in leadership there will be full protection our sovereignty? Bax just agree with me that the change you calling will only end your suffering not looting and interference of the west in Africa. You have mentioned that the US and allies got their own agenda and they aggressively pursue it.
