April 10/11 Student Demo Victim Seeks Assistance
Wednesday, 13 April 2011 18:28
Daily News - For the past 11 years, he could not get the support to complete his senior secondary education, talk-less
of attending tertiary education.Mr. Jammeh who is in his early 30s, said there was no political force behind the 2000 student demonstration but rather an expression of their dissatisfaction in the manner one of their colleagues, Ebrima Barry was allegedly tortured to death by fire officers.

On April 10 and 11, 2000, a number of fourteen students were allegedly massacred by Gambian security officers. On those two fateful days, Gambian students took to the streets protesting against the death of their fellow student, who died while under custody and the raping of a teenage female student.
Instead of pursuing justice, the government of The Gambia passed an Act indemnifying the perpetrators of those actrocities. While the relatives of murdered students continue to mourn the death of their family members, the perpetrators continue to walk scot free in the streets.
Mr. Jammeh supposed to undergo two operations on his left knee, first of which was done few months back in Passau, a village in Germany. Currently, the physically challenged Abdoukarim is seeking for financial support from philanthropists, well wishers, institutions and government to help him foot his medical and travel expenses to Germany. He said it is the conviction of his doctor in Germany that he has a chance to walk again normal after the second operation.
“I was able to go for my knee operation in Germany thanks to the support of a friend. I need one more operation to walk without a crutch and I have been crying for assistance for the past 11 years,” Jammeh said.
Abdoukarim Jammeh thanked president Jammeh for the generosity extended during his four months admission in hospital. He prayed for the souls of murdered students to rest in perfect peace and those physically disabled to recover and live successful lives.

Here AGAIN, one can see yaya jammeh’s treachery in pretending-benevolence; when, him, & NONE but he ALONE, ordered for the cold blood murders & maiming of the innocent demonstrating students. The indemnity was rather to shell yaya for any prosecutions will only lead to his own docking; It will become a State matter & annual commemorations, for ALL student demonstrating victims WILL be compensated, adequately, after yaya’s brought to book in his demise. Insha Allah!
