Amadou Sanyang, Two TFC players sent packing
Friday, 03 December 2010 21:42
Toronto FC is parting company with Gambian international Amadou Sanyang.Sanyang, a 19-year-old Gambian, made 12 starts in 13 appearances with TFC in 2010 and was becoming a regular midfielder when he was felled by a concussion in July.

The other two an American veteran Nick Garcia Fuad Ibrahim.
The American defender, who won an MLS Cup with former general manager Mo Johnston and head coach Preki Radosavljevic, was one of three players TFC said Friday it would not be picking up options on for 2011.
Garcia, who at $198,750 (all figures U.S.) is the highest paid of the three, is the only one of them eligible for next week’s MLS re-entry draft.
However Ethiopian-born Ibrahim, 19, was the second-youngest player ever selected in the MLS SuperDraft when he was taken by FC Dallas in 2007 at 17. He had just one goal in 14 games as a striker with TFC over two seasons, hardly stellar numbers for a guy who made $133,000 in 2010.
“This is yet another necessary step as we look toward building our 2011 squad,” Earl Cochrane, TFC’s interim general manger, said in a statement.
Since finishing the season with a disappointing 9-13-8 record to miss the playoffs for the fourth straight year, TFC has been busy off the field.
Former German superstar Jurgen Klinsmann has been hired as a consultant in the search for a new GM and head coach to replace Johnston and Preki who were fired in mid-September.
And, with Friday’s move, TFC has now parted ways with 10 players who were on the team’s roster when the season ended.
They have also added former Seattle midfielder Nathan Sturgis.
But the trio in Friday’s move could still end up with the club for 2011. They would be free to negotiate contracts as free agents.
“We will evaluate shortly where or how Fuad and Amadou might fit into our 2011 plans,” Cochrane said.
