5 Gambians finally deported from Swiss
Wednesday, 25 August 2010 18:25
Swiss authorities finally succeeded in their bid to deport five rejected Gambian asylum seekers whose plane the Gambian authorities had earlier denied landing rights.
According to reports reaching Jollof News, the five Gambians were airlifted out of Switzerland over the weekend and have since been reunited with their families.
An insider at the immigration department in Banjul confirmed that the deportees were received at the Banjul International Airport by a Gambian immigration officer who processed them.
According to our source, the Banjul refused the Swiss landing rights earlier because Zurich did not obtain landing clearance for the flight carrying the deportees.
