Mystery Surrounds Death of Narco-Trafficker
Friday, 14 October 2011 19:11
(JollofNews) - Mystery continues to hang over the sudden death at the state Central Prisons in Banjul
of Denis Milgo Winter who was standing trial with seven others on drugs related offences. Mr Winter, a Venezuelan - died in jail on Sunday, days before a magistrate’s court sentenced his colleagues to 50 years each in prison for trying to smuggle two tonnes of cocaine with an estimated market value of $130 million from Latin America to Europe.
Since his mysterious death on 9 October, 2011, the Ministry of Interior which is responsible for Prisons is yet to come up with an official medical
explanation regarding his death. As the government continues to remain silent, rumours have already started going round town on what may have cause the death of Mr Winter.
On Wednesday, one of Mr Winter’s co accused Rudy Rasoehamid Gazi alleged that he was killed at the prisons while awaiting judgement.
''They killed him! Let them talk about the mysterious death of Dennis,'' Mr Gazi shouted out before a crowded court house.
Following Mr Gazi’s allegation, Lamin S.Camara, defence council for the accused, challenged the presiding Magistrate Lamin Tabally not to proceed with his judgement on the drug case without shedding light on the issue of Mr Winter.
“The Gambian Constitution [1997] does not allow for a judgment to be read in absentia of an accused who is charged together with other accused persons. The judgment cannot be delivered if the state fails to inform the court about the whereabouts of the 4th accused person [Denis Milgo Winter],” Lawyer Camara said.
He added: “The prosecution has to inform the court as to what happened to the 4th accused person. The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) knows and has to set the records straight.”
However, Magistrate Tabally brushed aside Lawyer Camara’s request and continued with the judgement in which he found all the eight accused persons guilty of conspiring to traffic in prohibited drugs, trafficking in drugs, dealing in prohibited drugs, having firearm without authority, importation of firearm without authority, among others.

But ngotomah bax...bantaba is a so entrenched in our society I will find it very hard to abstained from engaging. After all, I met good ppl like you here, my brother kangkang, ML, Lalo etc. Inshallah one day we all put a face to all this debates and laugh it off.
Belai I had brilliant time here. I also learnt a lot; though some of the debates were very challenging, but so is life.
Above all, I have learnt not to take anything personal. Diverse opinions and views has made me stronger. Bax we will always continue to agree and or disagree but guess what...we are all Gambians and will remain so!
Brother Kangkang, well you see this was what I was telling Malick here yesterday. belai after all what malick says here when this forum members meet in real life bantaba; malick will embarrassed. Bro Gambia is a very very small country. Kebba Jobe issue...sad news
Pa Ndimbalan, is my brother, what a small world, that is why we have to respect one another, because Malick, did called me names, insulted my parents before knowing that he is my uncle, and he did not apologised to me yet, Gambia is small and most of us are related, knownly or unknownly.
So,gambianice,y ou are ' A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING ' : a commissioned military officer taking part in a civilian forum. If you are still in active service, you should desist from showing open support for the APRC,for that would go against the ethics of your profession.
As you very well know,a professional army does not affiliate itself with political parties.
It is wrong for people to be subjected to treatments which result to death in custody and such practices should be condemned where ever they take place.
It is the duty of governments to investigate and establish the facts surrounding the death of their nationals abroad, and if necessary, deman d justice or seek compensation.
The death of Gambians in police custody abroad, should not justify deaths in our prisons or detention centres.
For your information, I studied in England, infact I studied my A levels, Bachelors, after that I moved to do my officers training in Sandhurst in surrey. I then completed my masters in East of England (Anglia) two years after my commissioning.
The time in question of the death of the two named person in UK...I bitterly protested and extended great deal of lobbying. I know the role that I played and the families of the deceased will attest to this facts.
Therefore there is no reason for the insults. If you Europe can brutally murdered Gambian citizens and no stone unturn; clear double standards.
In the case of another death...Kebba Jobe, aka DOBO died in police custody when the UK police brutally suffocated to death on the spot.
Africans and most importantly Gambians are killed in europe and USA but guess what...goes under carpet. This cyber warriors could never be found when a man like me was battling the metroplotan police of UK on the brutal murders of our brothers in UK...
Pa Ndimaballan (Jatto) with rest of the team...I salute you all for standing soldier to soldier with me fighting UK police on killing of Saye and Dobo!
Guess what...Ibrahima Sey, died in police custody... Ibrahima Sey was forced to the ground by 14 British Police Officers, repeatedly turtured, beaten with heavy arm blows and sprayed repeatedly with CS gas, and then held face down for 15 minutes and brutally choked to death.. When he went totally limp and stopped breathing, an ambulance was called. He was dead by the time they reached the hospital...
Maybe you have a proof and know where he got his monies from? Remember God judges people who condone murders, oppression, jalang worshiping, embezzlement and abductions of human beings. Who does that on Gambians? GOT HIM and it stops simple. That said if you dispute drugs and arms in his monies please tell us how the man acquired millions of dollars from.
Why are you so dumb!....why must you always bring in the president? even issues that don`t concerned him at all u wouldn`t give him a break!...remember u `ll face judgment for every single thing u do...so beware of casting aspersions or making false-full accusations against your fellow human beings God will judge you for it!...BEWARE!!!!!!do u have proof that Jammeh knows something about it?lets us know please!
