(Poem) - Confession I must commence with
I am no poet like you and giant poet Essa the orator
I am more comfortable with prose
But cannot help trying my hand at poetry today
In appreciation of your invaluable, meritorious services to humanity
After poring over your well crafted, engrossing, gripping poem on maafanta
You are superb indeed
I am Gambian too

Eloquent, brilliant, serviceable, selfless, decorous, courageous, patriotic lady
I concur with you
As you are entirely right
You are evidently a sage
I am Gambian too

I hail you for being contented with your natural beauty as African
Unlike those who use bleach to shed their skins
Those who put animal hair on their heads
Those who wear expensive jewels
In the name of beautification
Disregarding the negative ramifications of such practices
You are a true moralist
I am Gambian too

I extol your cogent argument on education and the degree syndrome
Not all those with high level of education pass as intellectuals
Not all those with degrees are sound or productive
As not all that glitters is gold
Education is useless in the absence of principles and good manners
You are a real educator
I am Gambian too

Your condemnation of cowardice, hypocrisy and dictatorship is commendable
Cowards, hypocrites and dictators should vanish
They are undesirable elements of society
They should be filtered out like germs in water
As they are a catalyst for catastrophes and calamities
You are indisputably a lioness
I am Gambian too

Keep it up, my dear!
You are worthy of emulation
I exhort every man and woman to borrow a leaf from your book
I wish we had thousands like you
You are a precious asset and a source of pride
I am Gambian too
