Gambian Ex-Minister, Others Trial Adjourned
Thursday, 13 October 2011 19:41
(JollofNews) – The treason trial of former Information and Communication Minister Dr Amadou Scattred Janneh and
3 other co-accused persons resumed on Thursday at the Banjul High Court with the defense applying for an adjournment. A large crowd stormed the high court premises to witness proceedings.
State prosecutors also included in their indictment Ndey Tapha Sosseh former Gambian Press Union, Mathew K. Jallow and Famara Demba who are said to be out of the jurisdiction of the court.
Like Dr Janneh, the accused faced charges that they ‘‘conspired amongst themselves to print and distribute T-shirts bearing 'Coalition for Change Gambia, End Dictatorship Now' with intent to usurp the executive powers of the state’’.
When the case was mentioned for hearing, Lawyer Borry Touray, who was holding brief for defense counsel Lamin S. Camara, applied for an adjournment. He also filed a complaint about the detention conditions of Dr Janneh, describing it as unacceptable. According to Lawyer Touray, the former Gambian Minister is detained in a cell with a porous roof that keeps leaking during rain.
Despite the fact that the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mikailu Abdulahi objected to the relevance of the defense request for adjournment on the grounds he has many witnesses to bring in court, Justice Emmanuel Nkea conceded to adjourn the case to 19-20 October, 2011 for further hearing. He then ordered the prisons authorities to clean Dr Janneh's cell and find remedy to the problem.

But let me make it categorically clear to you...My love and support for Jammeh is unconditional and will remain so. If I could never be influence by my family otherwise in the past to support oppositions...I will never be never be moved in supporting Jammeh as my choice.

Well, U are protected by these Chams in Jollofnews to read my erased comments constantly while they are victims of your ignorance. If U know what is good governance why do you have to hide your real life or many here to avoid repercussions. Is that the place you call good governance in your mentality. You will live to witness good governance in Gambia to know what it meant for U and your children. English is a global Business Language N wrote on all products globally. Not just language like any...prick.
Well Batch Samba, U are nothing for Gambia nor importance but just a parasite. U need to go back to school to interpret phrases.
