Yahya Jammeh
(Opinion) - National resources are once more open to wastage as Gambia government sets about probing tax evasion leaving out business man president Jammeh the biggest tax evader. Since seizing power by coup in July 1994, Yahya Jammeh treated himself every bit economic opportunity with prospects of boosting revenue for personal wealth creation. Bending all rules of fair trading, Jammeh ventures into multiple business operations. He does so in very unfair competition with the nation's most enterprising people. He does not respect trade barriers. He deals in illict goods including drugs and weapons of warfare.
Faced with growing isolation Jammeh still craving for attention will not run out of tricks. This time he conceived the evil idea of bringing shame and scandal on the

Not to extend the matter further, there is only one or few issues that Gambia's accountants and lawyers need looking at. This is the time for true test of competence, knowledge, and expertise. As lawyers and accountants, you have it on your plate to dish out facts and figures. The public wants to know how legal it is that a sitting president is free to engage in private business with unlimited ventures. As men and women of figures, let us know from you how much the gross and net worth of Jammeh's multiple business string stands. What is Jammeh's Balance Sheet ? How much is salary of Gambian president ? Of what the position of president pays out as salary, does this tally with the amount of lavish spending that we all see president Jammeh displaying.
Men and women of letters. Women, men, of facts and figures. You are at war with a challenging person of Yahya Jammeh. Before he puts you all to shame, put him to shame. You have the right moment for right action. It is not your individual vindication that matters. You have to defend the Gambian constitution and national finances.
Besides, there is no justification setting up a Tax Commission and giving blanket exemption to the biggest tax evader; a president in private business. Resort to the Gambia National Antheme: "Let justice guide our actions." Take to the deep sea waters and stop the shallow pond fishing. If you will not catch the big fish, no need for need the expedition.

But this exercise has got nothing to do with tax evasion...It simply demonstrates the VINDICTIVE AND EVIL nature of Yaya Jammeh....He is dragging these lawyers before this commission because the Gambia Bar Association dared stand up against him...And the poor accountants got caught up too...
