UDP Ambushed In Foni Kanfenda

UDP_LEAD_ALLIANCE_PIX(DailyNews) - Main opposition United Democratic Party campaign caravan yesterday came under attack at the village of Kanfenda in Foni Kansala, West Coast region.

Unidentified men suspected to be militants of ruling Alliance for Patriotic Re-Orientation and Construction fired stones over the UDP convoy that was heading for its final destination in Serrekunda to wrap up the campaigns in the crucial November 24 presidential race. UDP_LEAD_ALLIANCE_PIX

This paper is yet to have full details of the incident, but our correspondent in the caravan quoted Babanding Daffeh, a UDP parliamentarian as saying: “These people are throwing stones over us.”

Thanks to the intervention of the military personnel at military check point at the junction that links to president Jammeh’s home village of Kanilai, the tension was defused, but some UDP militants have sustained injury.

The military personnel then escorted the opposition entourage till Bullock village where paramilitary took over the escort to the commercial town of Serrekunda.
Meanwhile, the incident came two days after IEC warned that it will discipline any party found wanton of breaching the electoral rules.

Character is like hair, even when you cut it, it grows back! You cannot fix a person with a CHARACTER FLAW! You simply cannot!!

This Jammeh dude is a little arrogant. As per Gambian constitution, Gambians reserve the right to vote for ANY presidential candidate or NO candidate.

Meaning, they can keep their cards and vote only in local elections.

What's sup with threatening to withhold passports belonging to the state???

This Jammeh fellow needs a reality check. Fortunately, he won't see the splinter which will eventually blind his eye.

Quoting Bax:
Sometimes, you wonder whether this man,Jammeh, is not suffering from some form of defect ..., I mean, mental defect...Certainly, not madness ....Some form of mild ailment affecting behaviour.... One moment,he does a good thing and you want to pat him on the back....Then next thing you know,he's acting like a complete nut case....This is like taking a step forward....then taking two backwards....Puts some of us to shame for patting him on the back for his No violence slogan.... What sort human being are Gambians dealing with....Untill voter apathy is legislated against, any action against people who registered but failed to vote will be illegal, dictato rial and a blatant abuse of power....And any official who carries out any such orders will be complicit in the abuse of power...

Simple...No Ifs.... No buts.... No justification ...

Well said..That is what this psychopathic savage live for in 17yrs!!!!

Well done to the armed forces....Disgraceful incident by thugs, whichever side they support..... Such incidents will have no place in a nation of ENLIGHTENED CITIZENS.....No one can indoctrinate enlightened citizens to see opposition party militants as enemies that deserve to be pelted with stones....And well done UDP for exercising restraint....It takes TWO WILLING parties or individuals to get a fight going.....Both opposition camps should resist any attempts to goad them into confrontations....For violence may serve some people ,but it won't solve anything....
